Nope, the 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 is 𝘙𝘌𝘠𝘈𝘓 and it's happening this 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲! 🎉 From 𝟲:𝟬𝟬 𝗣𝗠 - 𝟳:𝟯𝟬 𝗣𝗠, 45 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 can now witness the magnificence of our night sky in the 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐂 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫. 🌃✨

🔬 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐲𝐬

The educational talk on microplastics and their implications for human health was successfully conducted on August 20, 2026, at SC 346.

With 𝗗𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗲 𝗜. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮-𝗮𝘆 of the Physics Department as the resource speaker, participants gained valuable knowledge and insights into the science of this emerging concern.

📌 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀:
🫁 Microplastics have been 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 in the 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆, with the highest concentration found in the 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀.

🌬️ There are three major pathways of exposure: 𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁.

👕 Everyday 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 include, but are not limited to, 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 in plastic containers and wearing 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 like 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿.

🔴 We 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 completely 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, but we can reduce it through 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹 everyday choices.

🔎 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 is needed to fully understand their effects on human health.

They did it! Girl Power!💪🤩

Eight all-female 3rd-year BS Geology students of Silliman University succeeded in conquering their OJT period this summer term, completing 200 duty hours at Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp. - RTNMC in Rio Tuba, Palawan.

From sunrise to sundown, these ladies rocked the mountains, town, and offices with their bright personalities, making sure to learn, create meaningful connections, and always make the most out of everything during their time there.

To the people who witnessed their hardships during the OJT—Sir Mel, Ma'am Cherry, Boss Mike, Sir Iboy, Sir Jonas, sir Tony, Ma'am Cyndy, and Ma'am Kayce—thank you for guiding them through their training.

Special thanks to Nickel Asia Corporation, as well as RTNMC’s HR, Geology, Engineering, MEPED, ASSAY, and Community Relations Departments for welcoming them on this journey. They greatly appreciate the time and effort you’ve spent on them.

Eight BS Geology students from Silliman University, currently taking their on-the-job training under Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation in Bataraza, Palawan, took to the skies to attend Nickel Asia Corporation career talk event, NAC Start, held at the prestigious NAC Tower Building in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Manila.

The highlight of the event was definitely the chance to meet and interact with respected professionals in the industry, as well as other OJT students from different universities.

We extend our wholehearted thanks and appreciation to Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corp. - RTNMC, Nickel Asia Corporation, the guest speakers of the event, and all the people who have been and continue to be of great help along the way.

From the very first GC link and welcoming emails, you made us feel like we already belonged. At the time, it seemed like just a small gesture, but looking back, it meant so much. You showed us care, patience, and a quiet guidance that we’ve carried with us ever since.

Throughout your journey, you carried responsibilities that would have been too heavy for many, yet you faced them with courage and grace. You showed us what it meant to perseveree when the path is hard, to lead not for recognition but out of love for your work and your peers, and to inspire quietly through action rather than words.

To Ate Menchie, you may be quiet, but the way you handle things and care for others speaks louder than words ever could. To Kuya Zed, your calm and steady presence makes everyone around you feel safer, more confident, and at ease. To Ate Abi, your laughter and warmth brighten every moment and make even the toughest days feel lighter. To Kuya Judd, thank you for showing up to every event, for noticing us, and for making us feel seen in ways that mattered more than you know.

The SC third floor won’t be the same without you. Your quiet strength, laughter, and care made it a place full of life and heart, and the memories you’ve left will stay with us always. Even as you move forward, know that this will always be your home away from home, and wherever life takes you, there will always be a place here waiting for you.
