SPUD - St. Paul University Dumaguete The Seedbed of Paulinian Education in the Philippines: Where passion for excellence meets the formation of heart and mind. St.

In 1904, October 29, the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres established its first Foundation in the Philippines in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, upon the invitation of the Most Reverend Frederick Zadok Rooker of the Diocese of Iloilo, to which Dumaguete then belonged. Seven SPC Sisters landed on the shores of Dumaguete knowing neither language nor culture, except the one supreme language of the heart, “Caritas Christi Urget Nos.”

The Lord had wonderfully blessed their poor and humble beginnings with a succession of Foundations opened after Dumaguete. More invitations followed and so more Sisters continued to bear fruit through Education, Health and Pastoral Ministry. One hundred years later, the seven Sisters became 567 Filipino Sisters still serving with the same charism and energy. As it was in the beginning of our story in Levesville, the Sisters in the small cradle in Dumaguete grew in strength and in number, through trials and challenges. Like the falling of the grain of wheat into the ground, the premier school brought forth several schools, hospitals, health and pastoral care centers, and communities of Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres throughout the country. Paul University Dumaguete, now more than 100 years of service to humanity, is truly blessed with momentous events. It started as the Instituto de San Pablo, an exclusive school for girls - the first Catholic school in the province. Indeed, the school has gone a long way--ever responsive to the needs of the Dumagueteños, in particular and the Filipinos in general. It has grown and expanded producing holistic, integral graduates who have become authentic and responsible leaders in society and in their respective workplace.

St. Paul University Dumaguete takes the international stage with immense pride as we participate in the 2026 International Conference on Healthy Living and Sustainable Care: Connecting Communities Across Borders at Chung-Jen Junior College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Management in Taiwan!

Our University President, Sr. Mila Grace Silab, set a transformative tone for the conference with a powerful Keynote Speech detailing SPUD’s fierce commitment to holistic education and international mobilization. Elevating the university’s standard of excellence, Dr. Cliford Kilat, Dr. Ayeza Cathrina Tinagan, and Dr. Mary Francis V. Laquinon from the College of Nursing, Graduate School Nursing Programs, and International Relations shared their research and institutional expertise.

This global engagement does more than showcase Paulinian excellence; it serves as a driving force for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by actively promoting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through cutting-edge clinical exchanges, enhancing SDG 4 (Quality Education) by exposing our academic programs to international standards, and solidifying SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cross-border institutional alliances. LOOK || SPUD - CBIT Brings Support to Adopted Schools Through We Share Program

The College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) continues to uphold the values of generosity, compassion, and community involvement through its We Share Program. The initiative aims to provide meaningful assistance to its adopted schools by giving learners essential school supplies and resources for their education. This outreach program directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive learning resources, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by bridging resource gaps for young students.

The CBIT Department extended the program to Candau-ay Elementary School and Balugo Elementary School, which are among the department’s adopted schools. The activity was made possible through the collaboration of the CBIT Faculty, headed by Engr. Carol P. Tubog, together with the CBIT Officers, PTA Officers, Chibi, and the Executive Committee. Their collective efforts embody SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how institutional and grassroots cooperation can uplift local communities.

Through the continued implementation of the We Share Program, the CBIT Department seeks to extend its reach to more learners and communities. More than simply providing material support, the program reflects the department’s commitment to fostering a culture of generosity, service, and shared responsibility—showing that even simple acts of giving can create a meaningful global and local impact.

Our Paulinian Hospitality Management students just proved that excellence knows no boundaries!

Selected Level 3 HM students bravely took the grand stage and represented St. Paul University Dumaguete at the massive Cebu Trio 2026 Grand Exposition—the mega-event powered by WORLDBEX that united PHILBEX, MAFBEX, and the Cebu Auto Show at the IEC Convention Center Cebu (IC3) last September 10–13, 2026.
