The Institute of Clinical Laboratory Sciences proudly celebrates the achievements of its student researchers and dedicated faculty advisers for once again showcasing the department’s excellence on the international stage. At the recently concluded 𝟏𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐥, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚—organized by the Korean Diabetes Association—SU-ICLS stood among global experts presenting groundbreaking research in the field of Diabetes and Metabolism.

This year, two student-led research projects from SU-ICLS were accepted for 𝐄-𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

1. Serum Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin as a Potential Biomarker for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Preliminary Study Among the Filipino Population
– Presented by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘇𝗸𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀
– Guided by 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘁. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗟𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮

2. Disposable Va**ng in Selected Young Adults in Dumaguete City, Philippines: Effects on Malondialdehyde and Liver-Specific Enzyme Levels

The ICLS Department is proud to announce that research abstracts from both students and faculty have been accepted for presentation at several prestigious international conferences.

* 𝟏𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 (𝐒𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐥, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚) – Two entries have been selected for the E-Poster Exhibition, both receiving travel grants awarded by the Korean Diabetes Association.

* 𝟐𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 (𝐃𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐠, 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐧𝐚𝐦) – Three abstracts have been accepted for Oral Presentations.

* 𝟐𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐤, 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝) – Five abstracts have been accepted for E-Poster Presentations.

These achievements reflect the exceptional quality of research produced by the ICLS Department and highlight our continued commitment to advancing scientific inquiry and academic excellence.

The Silliman University (SU) Institute of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (ICLS) has successfully produced 86 newly Registered Medical Technologists in the August 2025 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination (MTLE).

Based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Silliman University achieved an overall passing rate of 89.58%, with an impressive 94.94% passing rate among first-time takers.

We extend our warmest congratulations to our new Medical Technologists for this remarkable achievement. You continue to bring pride and honor to the Institute of Clinical Laboratory Sciences and Silliman University.
