| The Silliman University Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines (SU JSWAP) officially convened its First Regular General Assembly on June 24, 2026, at SC 110. The assembly successfully established a quorum, with 114 out of the 162 total BSSW students in attendance, representing a 70.37% participation rate.
The assembly addressed several critical items of organizational business, primarily focusing on financial updates regarding the Association Fee collection and the ratification of foundational institutional policies.
Key approvals and policy ratifications during the assembly include the following:
(1) General Plan of Action (GPOA) for SY 2026–2027: The student body voted unanimously to approve the GPOA with 114 affirmative votes, surpassing the required two-thirds majority by six votes. This strategic roadmap aims to streamline and coordinate student-led initiatives across the department, college, and university levels.
(2) Manual of the Merit and Demerit System: Proposed by the Executive Board to bolster student engagement and event attendance, the system was approved with exactly 108 affirmative votes, meeting the precise two-thirds majority threshold.
The assembly also marked a significant step in institutional governance with the First Reading of the working draft for the 2026 SU JSWAP Constitution and By-Laws (CBL).
According to Activity Design No. 001-2026-2027 (approved in May 2026), the CBL must undergo a strict five-phase ratification process. The current First Reading represents the initial part of the third phase of the process—legislative review required prior to a final student body vote. The Second Reading shall be conducted during the 1st Special General Assembly in July. The Plebiscite shall follow in the same month.
Pursuant to its governing Constitution, SU JSWAP is mandated to convene two Regular General Assemblies per semester.
