Leading the publication is Marivhel M. Cha, Editor-in-Chief, with the guidance and support of Ms. Jenica N. Ombao, Adviser, and Ma'am Marla A. Ataiza, Consultant, as 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐍 continues its commitment to informing, inspiring, and giving voice to the school community.

DONSOL, Philippines – Different local government agencies of Donsol forged alliance to protect learners and secure school grounds from ongoing safety threats.

The Donsol Municipal Police Station (MPS), Bureau of Fire Protection-Donsol (BFP-Donsol), and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in coordination with Donsol National Comprehensive High School (DNCHS) started a 3-day symposium on school safety and security on Tuesday, July 7, at DNCHS Multi-Purpose Hall.

The symposium aimed to train students to protect themselves and act fast during emergencies. To keep this training focused, the agencies invited classroom officers from Grades 7 to 12 to learn safety skills over three days.

The daily training was split by grade level. Grades 7 and 8 officers joined on the first day, Grades 9 and 10 officers are scheduled tomorrow, and Grades 11-12 will be attending the final day of the seminar.

The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers were also invited as participants and facilitators that helped run the event under the guidance of their adviser, Sir Troy Abainza (T-I).

The school’s Faculty Club President Sir Ronnie Advincula (MT-II), also took part in the session as a participant alongside the students to ensure the school faculty fully aligned with the safety guidelines.

The speakers from PNP and BFP started the symposium with briefings on school safety rules essential to keep the campus orderly and secured. The agencies also shared important knowledge to prepare the students for the afternoon drills.

The most important part of the seminar was the simulation of a school shooting incident. Authorities demonstrated ways for students to protect themselves in time of the attack. Right after this, the BFP and PNP taught emergency medical responses and casualty evacuation drills to train students on proper first-aid handling during crisis.

Following the drills, representatives from the local agencies along with the school principal, Ma’am Elenor Obligar (Principal IV), provided performance evaluations.

Authorities then reminded students of security protocols to help maintain vigilance in school, especially inside their respective classrooms. Any forms of threat in safety and security of school must be reported and acted upon properly.

To guarantee rapid responses to potential security incidents, the law enforcement units distributed their official emergency hotline contacts. Students and faculty are urged to save these emergency numbers.

Tomorrow, July 8, the second day of the symposium will continue with class officers from grades 9 and 10 as participants.

Artificial intelligence may have started in science fiction, but today it is already part
of everyday life. As AI becomes more common, understanding it has become more
important than ever.

As part of the Break the Fake Movement (BTFM), together with AI Ready ASEAN,
12th-grade STEM students from Donsol National Comprehensive High School joined
an ASEAN-wide youth seminar to learn about artificial intelligence and its role in the
digital world.

The session explained that AI does not think like humans, but instead works by finding
patterns in large amounts of data.

Speakers also clarified that AI does not replace human intelligence; instead, it works
as a tool that still depends on human guidance.

Another common misconception addressed during the seminar was the belief that AI
always provides correct answers. In reality, it can still produce inaccurate or
misleading information without careful verification.

Examples such as chatbots and image generators were used to show how AI has
quietly become part of students' daily lives.

Rather than fearing the technology, participants were encouraged to understand how it
works and how it can be misused to spread misinformation.

To continue the learning, organizers provided online AI modules that students could
explore at their own pace.

By debunking AI myths, the initiative showed that the best defense against
disinformation may not be avoiding technology, but learning how to use it wisely.

𝐃𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐒 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝟖𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲

DONSOL, Philippines — Donsol National Comprehensive High School (DNCHS) celebrated its historic 80th Founding Anniversary on June 26, at the school’s Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH).

With the theme: Pagyakap sa pagbabago, pagpapahalaga sa tradisyon, at paghakbang ng may dignidad (Embracing change, valuing tradition, and moving forward with dignity), the celebration aims to remind students and faculty of the school's historic roots and the importance of unity, innovation, and the responsibility to move toward the future with honor.

The festivities commenced with a solemn thanksgiving mass celebrated by the clergy of the Saint Joseph Parish, which was sponsored by Grades 7 and 8. The Saint Joseph Ministry assisted during the liturgy, while the Himig San Jose Choir lifted spirits with their eucharistic hymns.

Following the mass, the formal program opened with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, led by Ma’am Angelina L. Chan. Sir Joffer Don C. Zacarias then guided the assembly in an opening prayer, which was warmly followed by the welcome remarks of Ma’am Elenor M. Obligar, Principal IV.

The highlight of the morning was a nostalgic look back at the school’s roots. Sir Ronnie A. Advincula shared the institutional history of DNCHS. He chronicled the school's growth from its humble beginnings as Donsol Junior High School, its transition into Donsol High School, and its eventual evolution into the comprehensive institution it is today.

Adding inspiration to the milestone, Sir Franszhel T. Razo, OIC, Public Schools District Supervisor, delivered a moving message that challenged students to uphold the school's core values. The event then shifted to a moment of deep gratitude with a special tribute dedicated to the retired faculty members who dedicated their lives to molding generations of Donsolanos.

The crowd was later treated to a musical interlude by Roseann Joy B. Madoro, a Grade 12 - ABM student, who sang "The Greatest Love of All," dedicated to recognizing the commitment of the retired faculty members.

The momentous celebration concluded with the mass oath-taking ceremony of all student organization officers administered by the school principal.

In compliance with strict DepEd guidelines, the school's founding anniversary was kept simple to follow the instructional block rules. Following this, big celebrations and usual practices were cut to prevent class disruptions.
