The Drug Addiction Awareness Symposium was successfully conducted at Antonio T. Doromal National High School to educate students about the dangers of drug addiction and the importance of prevention. One of the speakers, PCpl Noeh Jay M Duran, discussed the harmful effects of drug addiction and how it can negatively affect individuals, families, and communities. He also shared different ways to prevent drug use by making responsible choices and avoiding harmful influences. His discussion helped students understand the importance of staying drug-free and living a healthy life.

Another speaker was PCapt Joselito Lagamayo, who talked about the importance of anti-terrorism awareness. He explained how terrorism can threaten peace and security and why it is important for citizens to remain vigilant. He also encouraged students to cooperate with authorities and report suspicious activities to help maintain safety in their communities. His talk reminded everyone that awareness and responsibility play an important role in protecting society.

The symposium also featured Sir Joshua Immanuel F. Arce from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who spoke about the value of developing positive life skills. He encouraged students to build self-confidence, make wise decisions, and focus on their goals to achieve a better future. The Antonio T. Doromal National High School successfully conducted a Mental Health Awareness Symposium with the expertise and valuable insights of the invited resource speakers from the SDO Davao Occidental, Dr. Dale Hontiveros and Sir Priscillo Junior F. Acle, Division Mental Health Focal Person. Their discussions provided students with important knowledge and awareness about mental health and well-being.

Following the symposium, the team conducted HEEADSS assessments and counseling sessions with selected students to further support their mental health needs. In addition, Ma’am Jenevive T. Avila, Division Nurse II, together with Ma’am Arlene Joy Sandico, conducted monitoring and assessment of the school’s Teen Center, Canteen, and Wash in School (WInS) facilities. They also provided technical assistance to help strengthen and improve the implementation of the school’s programs and initiatives. The school is grateful for the positive feedback and recommendations given by the assessment team.

The success of this symposium and monitoring activity would not have been possible without the unwavering support and leadership of our School Principal, Ma’am Maritess L. Llameg, as well as the dedication of our Gender and Development Coordinator, Ma’am Ruby C. Cipriano, and School Nurse Coordinator, Ma’am Ferrilow O. Pado.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the faculty and staff, students, and parents whose active participation and cooperation contributed greatly to the success of this meaningful activity.
