๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐ โ Three Research Assistants from Adiong Memorial State College successfully completed the intensive 4-Day Capacity-Building Training on Indigenous Product Innovation, Intellectual Property Protection, Technology Transfer, and Scientific Communication, organized by the Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) under the Mindanao-Sulu-Palawan Innovative Research and Development Consortium (MINSUPALA-IRDC).
The training brought together representatives from the 15 members of the MINSUPALA-IRDC consortium, providing an avenue for researchers and research personnel to strengthen their competencies in indigenous product development, innovation, intellectual property protection, technology transfer, and effective scientific communication.
Representing AMSC were its three Research Assistants, Mr. Abdul Fattah M. Minalang, Mr. Abdillah M. Casim, and Mr. Jaber E. Gumaga, who actively participated in the series of lectures, workshops, and collaborative activities throughout the four-day capacity-building program.
The training covered a comprehensive sequence of sessions that began with Training on Technology Transfer, providing participants with insights into the processes and mechanisms involved in translating research and innovations into technologies that can be utilized by communities, industries, and other stakeholders.
This was followed by the Training on Intellectual Property, which emphasized the importance of protecting research outputs, innovations, and other intellectual creations. The session highlighted the role of intellectual property protection in ensuring that innovations are properly recognized and safeguarded as they progress toward utilization and potential commercialization.
The participants then proceeded to the Training on Innovation in Indigenous Crops and Fish Processing Products, which focused on exploring innovative approaches to the development and improvement of products derived from indigenous crops and fish resources. The session underscored the potential of local resources as sources of innovative and value-added products.
Complementing the innovation training was the Workshop on Value Addition in Indigenous Crops and Fish Processing Products Development. Through this workshop, participants were given an opportunity to apply concepts of innovation and value addition in developing products from indigenous agricultural and fisheries resources.
The capacity-building program also strengthened the participants' communication competencies through the Training Workshop on Public Speaking and Training Workshop on Scientific Presentation. These sessions equipped participants with skills in effectively communicating ideas, research findings, and technical information to different audiences. The program also provided an opportunity for consortium members to present their outputs and share their learning with fellow participants.
For AMSC, the successful participation of its delegates underscores the College's continuing commitment to strengthening its research and innovation capabilities. The knowledge and skills gained from the training are expected to contribute to the development of more innovative, protected, transferable, and effectively communicated research outputs within the institution.
Through its participation in MINSUPALA-IRDC, AMSC continues to strengthen collaboration with fellow member institutions while supporting research and innovation initiatives that recognize the value of indigenous knowledge, resources, and community-based development.
The four-day capacity-building training served not only as a venue for professional development but also as an opportunity to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation among the 15 consortium members, further advancing the shared goal of strengthening research and development in the Mindanao-Sulu-Palawan region.
