ALUMNA SPOTLIGHT 🏆

With a heart for education and a passion for excellence, Ms. Samantha Mabelle Sevilla continues to make her mark as an educator, mentor, and community leader.

A proud alumna of the DMC School of Teacher Education, Samantha completed her college internship at Archimedes Academy in Hanoi, Vietnam, where her teaching potential began to shine on an international stage. She went on to teach English for three years at DMC College Foundation, a De La Salle-supervised institution, before joining the public education sector as English Teacher I at Miputak National High School under the Department of Education.

For the past four years, Samantha has served as the School Paper Adviser of the English Journalism Club, guiding her student-journalists to success at the Division and Regional Schools Press Conferences (DSPC and RSPC) with consistent wins and recognitions. She also coaches for the Division Festival of Talents (English), where her students have continuously brought home awards in various competitions.

Her outstanding dedication has earned her the “Mentor of the Year” award from her school, and a commendation from Barangay Miputak for her exemplary role as a coach and mentor, affirming her deep commitment not just to education, but to youth development and community service.

Ms. Sevilla’s story is one of purpose, service, and impact, proving that when educators lead with heart and excellence, they leave a legacy that goes far beyond the classroom.

From the classroom to the clouds, Ms. Gwen Rae Berenguel-Woo proves that a degree in education can truly take you anywhere in the world.

A proud graduate of the DMC School of Teacher Education, Gwen has been soaring high as a Cabin Crew Member for Qatar Airways, the world’s best airline for a record nine times. For the past eight years, she has been based in Qatar, delivering world-class service in the First and Business Class cabins, upholding the highest standards of excellence, professionalism, and care.

Though she did not pursue a traditional teaching career, Gwen highlights the powerful connection between teaching and her role as a flight attendant. From effective communication and critical thinking to problem-solving and empathy, the skills honed through teacher training have been her anchor in the skies.

Her story is a testament to the versatility of an education degree and the many doors it can open. Gwen continues to grow, serve, and inspire on a global stage, embodying the DMC-STE spirit of excellence wherever she goes.

A woman of grace, intellect, and resilience, Ms. Heza Mae Lunjas, a proud graduate of the Bachelor of Elementary Education, Class of 2015, continues to inspire through her life journey marked by excellence both in and beyond the academic field. Fondly remembered as Miss Education and Runner-Up in Miss DMC, Heza exemplified confidence and leadership even during her student days at the DMC School of Teacher Education.

Though she did not pursue a teaching career, Heza’s path led her to equally meaningful service. In 2018, she moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she began her professional journey in the healthcare sector. She joined the prestigious Saudi German Hospital Dubai as Secretary to the Chief Nursing Officer under the Nursing Administration Department, a role she held with distinction for over seven years. Today, she continues to excel as the Group Nursing Director Secretary, providing high-level administrative support and contributing to the professionalism and efficiency of nursing leadership across SGH branches in the UAE.

To further equip herself in the healthcare field, she also became a Certified Nursing Assistant (KHDA-approved) in Dubai. Though her career path shifted, Heza remains grounded in the discipline, values, and holistic formation she gained from her years at STE, proof that an education degree can be the foundation for many forms of success.

From the classrooms of DMC to the heart of Taiwan, Ms. Cherry Mae Bentilacion is living proof that a degree in education can take you around the world.

Today, she proudly serves as a Foreign English Teacher (FET) at Tainan Municipal Yujing Elementary School in Tainan City, Taiwan, where she has been teaching for nearly two years. In her classes, she brings English to life through games, songs, and fun speaking activities and making language learning exciting and meaningful for young Taiwanese students. Most importantly, she creates a positive classroom environment where learners feel confident, capable, and empowered to use English in their daily lives.

Ms. Cherry’s journey reminds us that being a teacher doesn’t just mean staying in one place but it means becoming a bridge of understanding, a builder of dreams, and a bearer of light across cultures.

A standout student during her time at STE, Lalaine was one of the few chosen to complete her Practice Teaching at Archimedes Academy in Hanoi, Vietnam, where she began honing her skills on an international platform. Her dedication to the profession later led her to serve as a high school teacher under the Department of Education, where she contributed meaningfully to shaping young minds in the Philippines.

Today, she brings her passion for teaching and cultural adaptability to the global stage as an English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher at Westwood High School in South Carolina, USA.

From being an outstanding student to becoming a beacon of excellence in the teaching profession, Ms. Riza Lee Libao continues to bring pride to the DMC School of Teacher Education.

A consistent achiever during her college years, Riza was selected to undergo her Teaching Internship at Archimedes Academy in Hanoi, Vietnam, an experience that shaped her into a culturally aware and globally competent educator.

She is now making waves in the local education sector as an English Teacher III at Miputak National High School under the Department of Education. In her current role, she wears many hats with excellence and heart. She serves as the Adviser of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government, where she guides student leaders and spearheads school-wide programs. As an English Journalism Coach, she has led her students to success, reaching the Regional Level in competitions. Most notably, she is also a Mentor to Pre-Service Interns from the DMC School of Teacher Education, generously sharing her expertise and shaping the next generation of educators.

Riza’s journey is a testament to how quality education, when matched with dedication, creates lasting impact. She is not only a teacher but a leader, a guide, and an inspiration.
