Saturday morning's session was another fun, engaging, and meaningful outdoor experience as participants explored nature in a treasure-hunt activity, discovering the many treasures that the environment has to offer. Through this and other interactive activities, the ZamPen Youth not only enjoyed learning outside the classroom but also deepened their appreciation for nature and their role in protecting it.

Each activity was designed to help shape the ZamPen Youth into more responsible and environmentally conscious stewards, empowering them to care for, conserve, and advocate for the environment in their communities.

Last night, the Batang Dipag shone brightly as the ZamPen Youth gathered for a vibrant Cultural Soirée, celebrating creativity, culture, and environmental stewardship through artistic presentations and the inaugural Environmental Modelling Competition.

Representing Dipolog City with pride, the Batang Dipag captivated the audience with a dynamic dance performance to the Earth Day 2026 theme song. Using recycled fans as props, they creatively promoted the importance of going green while incorporating elements of dance sports into their energetic presentation.

Dipolog City also made its mark in the Environmental Modelling Competition, earning top placements through outstanding displays of environmental advocacy and cultural pride. Kyle and Jhennah elegantly showcased both Subanen-inspired cultural attire and innovative eco-attire, highlighting the rich heritage of the local indigenous community alongside sustainable fashion concepts.

Among the evening's standout achievers was Jhennah Tubio of Zamboanga del Norte National High School, who earned the special awards Best in Production and Best in Cultural Attire, before ultimately being crowned the first-ever Miss Environment.

Adding to Dipolog City's success, Saint Kyle Regencia, SSLG President of Dipolog City National High School, was hailed as the inaugural Mister Water, bringing home another prestigious title for the city.

ZamPen Environmental Encampment’s Cultural Soirée served as a meaningful celebration of environmental awareness, cultural identity, and youth leadership, proving that the young people of Zamboanga Peninsula are not only advocates for sustainability but also champions of creativity, heritage, and positive change. 🌿✨🏆

During the Day 1 afternoon session, the Batang Dipag, together with fellow ZamPen Youth, enjoyed an exciting and educational Environmental Amazing Race. Participants took part in various eco-friendly activities, including embedding seeds in plantable paper, creating garlands from recycled newspapers, exploring hydroponic planting, making Bokashi balls, and learning mulberry grafting techniques.

The activity not only strengthened environmental awareness but also encouraged creativity, teamwork, and sustainable practices among the youth.

The morning session proceeded smoothly. Participants were reoriented on the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) National Greening Program. They actively engaged with the resource speaker during discussions on wildlife conservation in Mindanao and across the country. The session also explored strategies for promoting sustainability in schools, emphasizing practical ways to create and maintain environmentally friendly learning environments.

Day 1! Batang Dipag, laging solid!

The opening program kicked off with high energy as delegates from each division showcased their spirit through vibrant chants and yells, setting the tone for an exciting and meaningful encampment.

The first-ever Zamboanga Peninsula Environmental Encampment was also graced by DepEd Region IX Regional Director, Ronelo Al Firmo, who delivered an inspiring message to the youth: “Each of you must be a living example of environmental stewardship. Because if it’s not you, then who? If not now, when?”

The three-day camp aims to capacitate selected YES-O and SSLG officers across the region with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to champion environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives in their respective schools and communities.

Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan! 🇵🇭

Sa pagdiriwang ng ika-128 anibersaryo ng Proklamasyon ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas, kaisa ang Kagawaran ng Edukasyon sa pagpupugay sa katapangan at sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani na nagbukas ng landas tungo sa ating kasarinlan.

Nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon ang kanilang pamana upang patuloy nating mahalin ang bayan, pahalagahan ang kalayaan, at magkaisa para sa mas maunlad na kinabukasan ng bansa.

The Batang Dipag have officially arrived in Manuel and met their fellow youth delegates from the Zamboanga del Norte Division!

Excitement is in the air as they look forward to the first day of activities tomorrow, filled with interactive discussions, engaging workshops, and high-energy activities focused on environmental protection and sustainability.
