Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), along with government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and civil servant-athletes from across Zamboanga del Norte, joined the 17th Inter-Government Agency Sportsfest (IGAS) 2026 on Monday, September 14, at Sunset Boulevard fronting the Dapitan City Government Center.

Held as part of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, the annual week-long sportsfest carries the theme โ€œBawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing para sa Bayanโ€ and will run from September 14 to 18, bringing together government employees from various offices across the province through sports and other activities.

The opening activities began with an assembly and parade, as participating government agencies, LGUs, unions, and civil servant-athletes marched from the JRMSU Main Campus toward the venue of the opening program.

Officials and representatives from the Civil Service Commission (CSC), City Government of Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte Federation of Government Employees' Union Inc. (ZNFGEU, Inc.), and other participating government offices and institutions led the opening program.

A highlight of the ceremony was the Saludo Competition, where participating groups showcased their coordination, discipline, and unity.

โ€œThe IGAS meet is more than just a tournament; it is a celebration of camaraderie, mutual respect, and the shared purpose that binds us in public service,โ€ Dapitan City Mayor Evelyn T. Uy said in her welcome address.

Uy emphasized the role of sports in fostering stronger relationships and camaraderie among government employees.

The IGAS Sportsfest is co-organized by the CSC, the City Government of Dapitan, and the ZNFGEU, Inc. as part of the annual celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

Following the opening activities, participating government employees will compete in various sports, including kickball, basketball, volleyball, and Mobile Legends, among others, throughout the week.

The sportsfest will conclude on September 18, bringing together government workers from across the province in a celebration of public service, teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

The Jose Rizal Memorial State University, Dipolog Campus proudly congratulates Dr. Cinder Dianne L. Tabiolo on her appointment as the new Faculty Regent of Jose Rizal Memorial State University.

Dr. Tabiolo is a Professor II of the College of Teacher Education, JRMSU Dipolog Campus, and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education, major in Chemistry. A recipient of the DOST-SEI Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education (CBPSME) Scholarship, she brings more than 20 years of experience in education, having served both in the Department of Education and in higher education.

Her academic and research work reflects a strong commitment to advancing science education, chemistry laboratory instruction, and innovative teaching practices. In her dissertation, she developed the Flipped and Guided Laboratory Instructional Model (AFGLIM), which integrates flipped classroom and guided inquiry approaches to enhance the learning outcomes of pre-service science teachers.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Tabiolo is an active researcher, journal reviewer, and conference speaker, with research presentations in the Philippines and abroad, including Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan. She also serves as an external reviewer of the International Journal of Advanced Multidisciplinary Studies (IJAMS) and as a member of the Regional Technical Evaluation Committee (RTEC) of the Department of Science and Technologyโ€“Region IX.

Her appointment as Faculty Regent is a meaningful recognition of her dedication to education, research, leadership, and service. As she takes on the responsibility of representing the faculty in the governance of the University, may she continue to champion the aspirations, welfare, and collective voice of the JRMSU academic community.
