๐๐๐ก๐๐๐, ๐๐น๐ผ๐ถ๐น๐ผ โ Di**le National High School (DNHS) officially launched its Brigada Eskwela 2026 with a kick-off ceremony at the DNHS New Covered Gym today, June 1, at 7:30 a.m. This yearโs mobilization centers on the theme: โBayanihan para sa ligtas, malinis at matatag na paaralan.โ
The event gathered students, parents and stakeholders from across the municipality, all eager to foster a better learning environment for fellow Dinahisians.
Mr. Jose Arnold E. Intoy, Master Teacher I and Brigada Eskwela Coordinator, shared a meaningful message reframing the community's perspective on the initiative. He emphasized that the program successfully uplifts the school through the shared volunteerism of students and parents.
For years, Brigada Eskwela has served as a school tradition. It unites the community days before the formal opening of classes, teaching volunteers the value of teamwork and effective communication to accomplish tasks efficiently.
During the kick-off, arriving students and parents lined up inside the gym to receive instructions before proceeding to their designated cleanup stations to begin their volunteer work.
โSuper fun gid ang Brigada kagina kay damo ang nag attend kag nagbuligay. Nakita ko ang cooperation sang mga estudyante, ginikanan para mapanami ang eskwelahan. Happy man ako kay damo ko nakita nga bag-o kag pamilyar nga mga itsura nga mga active nga nagasuporta kag naga buligay sa Brigada,โ said Harsham Salarde, an incoming Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) student.
The school-wide maintenance program will run until June 5, 2026. More volunteers are expected to arrive through the week to make a lasting difference in the campus community.
As organizers noted, the kick-off is just the beginning of a larger movement to make DNHS cleaner and greenerโproving that Brigada is less about sweeping floors and more about a shared commitment to the school.

Rising Through the Ranks: The Journey of Maxene dela Torre
Maxene dela Torre, born on December 12, 2003, and raised in Dawis, Di**le, Iloilo, has steadily carved her name in the world of basketball through determination, discipline and passion for the sport. Guided by the support of her parent, Melody Grace Demapanag dela Torre, Maxeneโs journey reflects the story of a young athlete who dared to dream and worked tirelessly to achieve it.
She spent her early years at Di**le Central Elementary School (DI**LE CES). Her passion in sports take shape at Di**le National High School, where she spent her junior high school, not as a basketball player but of volleyball. But through the guidance of her former coach, Mr. Prandy John Rinen Wong, who first discovered her potential in the basketball court, Maxeneโs skills flourished. It was during this time that she began collecting accolades and gaining recognition.
In 2018 and 2019, Maxene played a key role in securing the 4th CDSA Championship titles, demonstrating her consistency and competitive spirit. Her success extended beyond local tournaments, as she also became a two-time Integrated Meet Champion during those same years. In 2019, she reached a new milestone by earning a bronze medal in the WVRAA, proving her ability to compete at a higher level.
Maxene continued her academic and athletic journey at Central Philippine University (CPU) for her senior high school education, where she further honed her skills both as a student and an athlete. Her dedication to the sport eventually led her to Far Eastern University (FEU), where she is currently pursuing a degree in Sports Science, aligning her academic path with her passion for athletics.
Throughout her journey, Maxene has embraced the values of perseverance, teamwork and discipline. While her list of achievements continues to grow, it is her mindset and determination that truly define her as an athlete.
When asked what she would like to share with aspiring athletes, Maxene emphasizes the importance of staying committed and believing in oneself, even during difficult times. She believes that success is not achieved overnight, but through continuous effort and resilience.
Her lessons to live by center on hard work, humility, and the willingness to learn from both victories and defeats. For Maxene, every game is an opportunity to growโnot just as a player, but as a person.
As she continues her journey in sports and academics, Maxene dela Torre stands as an inspiration to young athletes who aspire to follow in her footsteps. With her passion and determination, there is no doubt that her story is still being writtenโand the best chapters are yet to come.
