Today, August 23, we celebrate the Feast of St. Rose of Lima, the first person born in the Americas to be canonized as a saint. Born in Lima, Peru, St. Rose devoted her life to prayer, penance, humility, and caring for the poor and sick. Although she lived a quiet and simple life, her deep love for God and compassion for others made her an inspiring witness of faith. Her life reminds us that holiness can be found in ordinary acts of love, sacrifice, and service.

โ€œWithout the burden of afflictions, it is impossible to reach the height of grace.โ€

Born in France, St. Bernard devoted his life to prayer, the love of God, and the renewal of religious life. He became the abbot of Clairvaux and inspired many people through his wisdom, humility, and deep devotion to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. His life reminds us that true greatness comes from loving God, serving others, and seeking holiness in our daily lives.

Let us offer our prayers for everyone affected by the current weather conditions in the Philippines.

As we face severe weather, let us remain calm, vigilant, and united in prayer. May God protect our families, communities, responders, frontline workers, and everyone affected by the storm.

May the rains subside, the winds weaken, and everyone remain safe. Let us continue to look after one another and place our trust in Godโ€™s loving protection.

Today, August 15, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring the truth that at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken body and soul into the glory of Heaven. As the Mother of Jesus and a faithful servant of God, Mary remained humble, obedient, and devoted to God's will throughout her life. Her Assumption reminds us of the hope of eternal life and points us toward the glory that God promises to those who faithfully follow Him.

โ€œBlessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!โ€
โ€” Luke 1:42

As students, we can honor the Our Lady of Assumption by:
๐Ÿ’™ Following God's will with faith and trust.
๐Ÿ’™ Showing humility and kindness to others.
๐Ÿ’™ Saying yes to opportunities to serve and help those in need.
๐Ÿ’™ Turning to Mary in prayer and asking for her intercession.

Today, August 14, we celebrate the Feast of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish Franciscan friar and martyr who devoted his life to spreading the love of Christ and serving others. Born in Poland, St. Maximilian had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and founded the Militia Immaculata, an organization dedicated to bringing people closer to Jesus through Mary. During World War II, he was imprisoned at Auschwitz. There, he courageously offered his life in place of another prisoner, showing extraordinary love, selflessness, and faith even in the midst of suffering. His life reminds us that true Christian love means being willing to sacrifice, forgive, and care for others.

โ€œLet us remember that love lives through sacrifice and is nourished by giving.โ€

Today, August 11, we celebrate the Feast of St. Clare of Assisi, the founder of the Order of Poor Ladies, now known as the Poor Clares. Inspired by the life and teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare chose to leave behind a life of wealth and comfort to follow Christ in humility, poverty, and prayer. Through her deep faith, courage, and complete trust in God, she inspired many women to dedicate their lives to serving the Lord. Her example reminds us that true joy is found not in worldly riches, but in loving God wholeheartedly and trusting in His grace.

Today, August 10, we celebrate the Feast of St. Lawrence of Rome, a deacon and martyr who faithfully served the Church and cared deeply for the poor and those in need. Known for his courage, generosity, and unwavering faith, St. Lawrence used the treasures of the Church to help those who were suffering and struggling. When asked to present the Church's treasures, he gathered the poor and showed them as the true treasures of the Church. His life reminds us that true wealth is not found in material possessions but in loving God and serving others with a generous heart.

"The Church's true treasure is the poor."

Today, August 8, we celebrate the Feast of St. Dominic de Guzmรกn, the founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominican Order). Born in Spain, St. Dominic dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, teaching the truth of the Catholic faith, and bringing people closer to Christ. Through his deep love for prayer, study, and compassionate preaching, he inspired many to live holy lives rooted in faith and charity. His example reminds us that by seeking truth, living with humility, and trusting in God, we too can become faithful witnesses of Christ.

"Arm yourself with prayer rather than a sword; wear humility rather than fine clothes."

Today, August 6, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, a glorious moment when Jesus revealed His divine glory to His disciples Peter, James, and John on the mountaintop. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became dazzling white, while Moses and Elijah appeared beside Him. Through this extraordinary event, God the Father proclaimed,
"This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him."

The Transfiguration strengthened the disciples' faith and prepared them for Christ's Passion, reminding us that beyond every trial and sacrifice, the glory of the Resurrection awaits those who faithfully follow Him.

"This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him."
โ€” Matthew 17:5

As students, we can celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration by:
๐Ÿค Listening to God's Word through Scripture and putting it into practice.
๐Ÿค Growing closer to Jesus through daily prayer and participation in the sacraments.
