𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐌

As part of its continuing efforts to advance environmental legal education and community engagement, the MSU College of Law at MSU-Maguindanao, through the Kasaligan Law Clinic, held a follow-up meeting with the Philippine Earth Justice Center, Inc. (PEJC) on August 12, 2026, to further strengthen their ongoing collaboration under the Green Legal Clinics Program.

The meeting focused on identifying and developing the next steps in the partnership, particularly initiatives that will provide law students with meaningful community-based learning opportunities while strengthening access to environmental justice in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Representing MSU-Maguindanao were Atty. Rojean Romanes, CLEP Director; Atty. Chalcedony Aniñon, CLEP Supervising Lawyer; Dr. Rowena Benavides, Dean of the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies; and Dr. Ramjie Odin, Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Development and Dean of the College of Fisheries; while PEJC was represented by Atty. John Menguito and Atty. Roger Rivera.

The continuing collaboration underscores the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to environmental justice, bringing together expertise in law, environmental studies, and fisheries to better understand and respond to the complex environmental challenges confronting communities in BARMM and across Mindanao.

Through sustained partnerships and community-centered initiatives, the Kasaligan Law Clinic continues to strengthen experiential legal education and contribute to the development of future lawyers equipped to advance environmental justice and community empowerment.

𝐌𝐒𝐔 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐀𝐖 𝐀𝐓 𝐌𝐒𝐔-𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐎 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕

The MSU College of Law at MSU-Maguindanao formally welcomed its students to Academic Year 2026–2027 through the Students’ Orientation and General Assembly held yesterday, August 9, 2026, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Cotabato City.

Atty. Mohammad Muktadir A. Estrella, an esteemed lecturer of the College and Rank 6 in the 2026 Shari’ah Bar Examination, graced the event as guest of honor and delivered an inspirational message to the students, encouraging them as they embark on another academic year. He was joined by MSU-Maguindanao university officials, including Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Marissa N. Parcon; Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Development Dr. Ramjie Y. Odin; OIC Vice Dean and CLEP Director Atty. Rojean C. Romanes; Legal Services Officer Atty. Cynee Press J. Del Oeste; and Intellectual Property Office Director Atty. Chalcedony R. Aniñon.

The program also marked the formal turnover of leadership of the Law Student Government (LSG) from the outgoing officers to the newly elected officers for A.Y. 2026–2027, highlighted by the oath-taking ceremony and the presentation of the incoming LSG officers’ plans and priorities for the academic year.

For the incoming first-year students, a breakout session and workshop, facilitated by the LSG and the Rawaten Elite students, was conducted to provide practical guidance on navigating the demands of legal education. The session featured exercises and simulations on the ALAC method, case digest preparation, and recitation, equipping the students with foundational skills essential to their journey in law school.

As the College begins A.Y. 2026–2027, the MSU College of Law at MSU-Maguindanao looks forward to another year of excellence in legal education.
