The UPPI was formally established as a unit of the University of the Philippines on November 1964 with an initial grant from the Ford Foundation.

It is the only academic institution in the Philippines offering graduate level training in Demography and Population Studies. Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of data, and maintain research materials;
• Provide support to researchers and field staff during fieldwork and panel maintenance activities;
• Assist in organizing dissemination forums, workshops, and
related activities;

Qualifications:

The University of the Philippines Population Institute mourns the passing of Prof. Zosimo E. Lee, Ph.D. He served as the Dean of the UP Diliman College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) from 2004 to 2010. During his time as a Dean, he actively supported the Institute in its research endeavors and academic programs.

The UPPI community extends its condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and former students of Dr. Lee.

The University of the Philippines Population Institute mourns the passing of Dr. Alan B. Feranil, an alumnus of the Master of Arts in Demography (MADEM) program and a research partner of the Institute. Dr. Feranil served as the Director of the Office of Population Studies at the University of San Carlos, Cebu, from 2008 to 2012.

We also extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Feranil.
