𝐀 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐲

There are dreams that arrive on time, and there are dreams that wait. For 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗗. 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻, that dream waited more than forty years, quietly carried through every sacrifice, every challenge, and every decision made for the people he loved most.

As a young man, Sir Michael was already in his second year of Civil Engineering when financial hardship forced him to leave school. The future he had imagined suddenly changed direction. Instead of pursuing a college degree, he chose to work abroad, dedicating nearly two decades of his life as an Overseas Filipino Worker to provide a better future for his family.

Together with his wife, Malou, he made a decision that many parents know all too well. They placed their children's education before their own aspirations. Their sacrifices became the foundation upon which their family built a brighter future, allowing each of their children to complete their education and establish successful careers.

While his children celebrated their own achievements, Michael quietly held on to a dream that remained unfinished. He never allowed time, age, or circumstance to convince him that it was too late to continue what he had once begun.

At 62, that dream finally became a reality. Wearing his graduation toga with pride, Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UM Digos College, Batch 2026. His diploma represents more than academic success. It reflects a lifetime of perseverance, resilience, and unwavering determination.

Michael's story is a reminder that education has no expiration date. Life may lead us down unexpected paths, but dreams rooted in purpose never disappear. They simply wait for the right moment to be fulfilled.

Today, UM Digos College proudly celebrates Michael D. Calapan, not only as a graduate but as a father, a provider, and an inspiration to every learner who believes that it is not too late to begin again. His journey proves that success is not measured by how quickly we reach our destination, but by the courage to keep moving forward despite every obstacle.

For those who have set aside their dreams because life demanded something greater, Michael's story offers a powerful message. Dreams may be delayed, but they are never beyond reach for those who refuse to give up. His graduation stands as a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, and determination to turn even the longest journey into a remarkable success.

The session introduced participants to the program guidelines, workplace expectations, and their responsibilities as they prepare for their employment.
