Ang salitang “marahuyo” ay isa sa mga pinakaluma at matatalinghagang salita sa Pilipinas. Ang ganitong uri ng salita ay mahirap unawain subalit nagbibigay interes o misteryo upang mas intindihin at pilit pang alamin ang ipinapahiwatig ng nabanggit na salita.

Ang salitang marahuyo ay nagmula sa salitang ugat na “rahuyo” o dahuyo. Ang salitang ito ay tumutukoy sa labis na pagkabighani sa isang tao o bagay. Ang ibig sabihin ng salitang ito sa tagalog ay maakit, mahalina, mabighani, maengganyo, at magayuma.

Halimbawa: Ako'y tila narahuyo sa ganda mong humahalintulad sa pagsibol ng araw sa payapang umaga.
