Relentless defense, teamwork seal one-day league

After surviving the battle against the tournament’s best teams, including Pitchblende Rings and Raging Ruby, Pearl Ballers and Opal Dunkers finally collided in the much-awaited championship game of the Grade 6 One-Day League Invasion Games, with both teams determined to finish the day wearing the crown.

Opal Dunkers immediately seized control in the opening quarter as Santillan, Canoy and Loqueño moved in perfect synchronization, overwhelming Pearl Ballers and racing to a commanding 19-5 lead before the first quarter ended.

The pressure intensified in the second quarter as Pearl Ballers were held scoreless, with the suffocating defense of Santillan, Lazaro, Montemayores, Sarael and Ramos shutting down every offensive attempt and protecting Opal Dunkers’ massive advantage.

Refusing to surrender, Pearl Ballers unleashed a fierce comeback in the third quarter as Sarona, Cac and Toledo combined their offensive strength to pour in 12 points, while Opal Dunkers managed six, cutting the deficit and giving Pearl Ballers renewed hope heading into the final quarter.

But when the championship hung in the balance, Carlo Canoy showed no mercy, repeatedly finding the basket while his teammates poured out their remaining strength, teamwork and determination to withstand Pearl Ballers’ desperate rally.

When the final whistle sounded, Opal Dunkers emerged as the 2026 One-Day League Champions, 38-25, with Canoy’s clutch scoring, the team’s relentless defense and their collective effort carrying them through a thrilling championship battle and crowning them kings of the court.

Gabe’s 17-Point blast fuels Pitchblende Rings’ comeback, 33-22
Monteza, Plaza ignite second-half surge

Pitchblende Rings stormed back from an early deficit to defeat Jade Hoopers, 33-22, in Game 1 of the One-Day League Invasion Games at the DMMES Gymnasium.

Jade Hoopers dominated the opening quarter as their towering big man Mark Sebastian Sangrador powered through the defense, shutting out Pitchblende Rings, 8-0, after the first period.

Pitchblende Rings refused to stay down as Gabe Monteza erupted in the second quarter, drilling a barrage of shots that produced 17 crucial points and dramatically shifted the momentum of the game.

With the pressure mounting in the third quarter, Plaza and Monteza combined their scoring and defensive intensity to dismantle Jade Hoopers’ early advantage and put Pitchblende Rings firmly in control.

Sangrador continued battling for Jade Hoopers, but Pitchblende Rings’ relentless attack and timely plays from Monteza and Plaza kept the comeback alive and widened the gap on the scoreboard.

Pitchblende Rings sealed the thrilling comeback, 33-22, with Monteza’s explosive 17-point performance and Plaza’s crucial support proving decisive in their Game 1 victory over Jade Hoopers.

Canoy powers Opal Dunkers to Grade 6 title, earns emotional MVP honor

It was a game filled with pressure, determination, and unforgettable moments, but when the final buzzer sounded, Canoy and the Opal Dunkers stood tallest.

Canoy led the Opal Dunkers to the Grade 6 Invasion Games One-Day League championship after a thrilling battle against the Pearl squad. The young guard turned in an impressive all-around performance, finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists just two assists shy of a triple-double.

From the opening tip, Canoy played with energy and confidence. He attacked the basket despite tight defense, grabbed crucial rebounds, and constantly looked for opportunities to put his teammates in a better position. His passing and court awareness helped keep the Opal Dunkers composed whenever Pearl threatened to take control of the game.

But the most touching moment came after the game.

When Canoy's name was announced as the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP), the excitement of the championship gave way to tears. He walked forward to receiving his medal and ₱600 cash prize, visibly overwhelmed by the moment.

For Canoy, the award was more than just recognition for his performance on the court. It was a reminder of the hard work, sacrifices, and dreams behind every game he played.

"Nalipay ko tungod sa kadaugan namo ug dako kaayo ug tabang sa akong pag-eskwela ang akong nadawat kay kini maka-inspire sa uban," Canoy shared emotionally during the awarding ceremony.

His words revealed what made the moment even more meaningful. The prize would help support his education, while his achievement could serve as encouragement to other young student-athletes who are also working hard to pursue their dreams both in sports and in school.

With the championship trophy in their hands and Canoy carrying the MVP honor, the Opal Dunkers celebrated more than just a victory. They celebrated teamwork, perseverance, and the dream of a young athlete who gave everything he had on the court.

And as Canoy wiped away his tears, it was clear that this was a championship he and everyone who witnessed it would remember for a long time.

Raging Ruby flips the script in fierce second-half rally

Raging Ruby stormed back from an early deficit to defeat Furious Emerald, 28-20, in Game 4 of the One-Day League Invasion Games through a powerful second-half turnaround.

Furious Emerald controlled the opening quarter as Montecillo, Tugadi and Maribay spearheaded the offense 8-3, while Wacan, Galacio and Cavan anchored a defense that kept Raging Ruby struggling to find its rhythm.

The Emeralds maintained their grip in the second quarter as their coordinated offense and defensive pressure preserved their advantage and appeared to put them on course for a decisive victory.

But the game turned upside down in the second half when Raging Ruby unleashed a relentless offensive surge led by Orcullo, Ngoho and Delos Santos, who worked in tandem to tear through the Emerald defense.

Plaza’s 16-point blitz builds winning cushion

Pitchblende Rings survived a furious second-half fight from Diamond Dribblers to claim a 28-15 victory in Game 5 of the One-Day League Invasion Games, fueled by Edrick Plaza’s explosive opening-quarter performance.

Diamond Dribblers were held scoreless in the first quarter as Plaza took command for Pitchblende Rings, unloading 16 points to single-handedly create a massive early advantage.

Pitchblende Rings continued their offensive surge in the second quarter as Monteza and Samonte added crucial baskets, while Diamond Dribblers, led by Salado and Marigmen, struggled to cut into the widening deficit.
Diamond Dribblers answered with a defensive masterpiece in the third quarter as Turin, Dela Cruz and Saito locked down Pitchblende Rings, while Marigmen and Paraiso powered the offense to hold their opponents scoreless.

The Diamond Dribblers continued their second-half fight in the final quarter as Turin, Marigmen and Paraiso combined for seven points, while Paramio and Monteza managed four for Pitchblende Rings.

Despite Diamond Dribblers scoring more points than Pitchblende Rings throughout the second half, Plaza’s blistering 16-point first-quarter outburst proved decisive as Pitchblende Rings secured the 28-15 victory and advanced from Game 5.

Pearl Ballers’ trio breaks Sapphire Nets' defense

Pearl Ballers powered past Sapphire Nets, 42-25, in Game 2 of the One-Day League Invasion Games after a tightly contested opening half.

The first quarter turned into a fierce scoring duel as Algabre spearheaded Sapphire Nets while Toledo answered for Pearl Ballers, keeping the battle close from the opening tip.

Sapphire Nets continued to fight back in the second quarter through the efforts of Guirit, while Sarona and Cac kept Pearl Ballers within striking distance in another hard-fought exchange.

Everything changed when the third quarter commenced as the chemistry between Sarona, Cac and Toledo exploded into a relentless offensive attack that began pulling Pearl Ballers away.

The trio’s camaraderie continued to shine in the final quarter as Pearl Ballers tightened their defense, connected on crucial baskets and left Sapphire Nets struggling to regain the momentum.

Pearl Ballers completed the commanding 42-25 victory, with the powerful combination of Sarona, Cac and Toledo proving to be the game-changing force that carried their team to triumph.

Opal Dunkers crush Topaz Slammers in all-quarter rampage, 56-18

Opal Dunkers dominated Topaz Slammers, 56-18, in Game 3 of the One-Day League Invasion Games behind a relentless all-team performance led by Carlo Canoy.

Topaz Slammers fought hard through Tubat, Uraca and Arellano, but Opal Dunkers controlled the opening quarter as their players quickly established their rhythm on both ends of the court.
Opal Dunkers intensified their attack in the second quarter as Montemayores and Lazaro knocked down crucial baskets while Topaz Slammers were held scoreless.

The suffocating defense of Sarael, Mansueto and Santillan further frustrated Topaz Slammers, denying them open looks and allowing Opal Dunkers to widen their advantage.

Canoy continued to orchestrate the charge while every Opal Dunkers player contributed points, turning their balanced offense into a relentless scoring machine that kept Topaz Slammers trailing throughout the second half.

Opal Dunkers completed the commanding 56-18 victory, with Canoy’s leadership, the team’s collective scoring and their tight defensive wall delivering a dominant wire-to-wire performance over Topaz Slammers.

Grade 6 learners turn the court into a classroom of skill, courage, team spirit

Serving as a major Term 1 MAPEH Performance Task where learners put classroom lessons into action, the Grade 6 Level of Don Mariano Marcos Elementary School (DMMES) turned up the heat on August 14, 2026 as the annual 2026 Invasion Games exploded into a one-day showcase of skill, teamwork and sportsmanship through the exciting Cheerdance Competition and knockout Basketball League.

More than just a battle for points and trophies, the games challenged learners to execute fundamental skills, movement strategies, coordination and teamwork while developing discipline, confidence, respect and perseverance, with the performance task carrying the prescribed percentage of the Term 1 MAPEH grade under the school’s assessment scheme, making every cheer, pass, shot, defensive play and display of sportsmanship a meaningful demonstration of learning.

Carrying a tradition that has been embraced by the DMMES Grade 6 Level since the beginning of the K–12 MAPEH Curriculum, the Invasion Games transformed the gymnasium into a classroom without walls, where learners discovered that true victory is not measured only by the final score but also by fair play, camaraderie, cooperation, respect for opponents, discipline and the courage to give one’s best until the final whistle.

Behind the energy and excitement was a strong partnership among the school and community, made possible through the permission and guidance of School Principal Ma’am Merilyn T. Salboro, the leadership of Grade 6 Level Leader Ma’am Mary Liezel Martinez, the coordination of Grade 6 MAPEH Focals Ma’am Jenny Corpuz and Sir Jay Mark Alocelja, and the unwavering support of teachers, parents and the community, proving that when learners, educators, parents, families and the community move as one team, the game becomes more than competition, it becomes education in action.

DIY Uniforms, Matitinding Galaw, at Pusong Makulay, Bida sa Cheerdance Competition ng DMMES

DMMES - Umalingawngaw ang sigawan at palakpakan sa Don Mariano Marcos Elementary School gym nang magsimula ang Grade 6 Cheerdance Competition noong Agosto 14, 2026, tampok ang siyam na koponang nagpakitang-gilas sa isang makulay na pagtatanghal na bahagi ng kanilang Arts Performance Task para sa Term 1, kung saan ang bawat grupo ay hindi lamang sumayaw kundi lumikha rin ng kani-kanilang simple, kakaiba at DIY uniforms na dinisenyo at prinint mismo ng mga mag-aaral.

Bago umarangkada ang kompetisyon, pinasiklab muna ng Grade 6 Band sa buong oval ang isang makulay na parada, pinangunahan ng mga drummers, twirlers at flagbearers, habang bitbit ng bawat seksyon ang kanilang pagkakakilanlan sa pamamagitan ng natatanging kulay ng kanilang kasuotan, Pitchblende Rings sa pink, Jade Hoopers sa purple, Raging Ruby sa neon green at neon orange, Furious Emerald sa black, Sapphire Nets sa white na may blue prints, Topaz Slammers sa yellow, Diamond Dribblers sa dark blue, Pearl Ballers sa royal blue, at Opal Dunkers sa red. Una sa bawat linya ang kanilang mga Captain Ball at cheerleaders na naghatid ng enerhiya sa parada.

Pagdating sa entablado ng kompetisyon, naging tunay na makulay ang bawat performance habang pinagsama ng mga batang cheerleaders ang pompoms, sabayang galaw, tumblings, formations, synchronized routines at mga surprise moves nila, patunay na hindi lamang talento sa pagsasayaw ang puhunan kundi maging disiplina, teamwork, creativity at tapang na humarap sa madla.

Bawat koponan ay nag-iwan ng sariling marka, ngunit lalo pang umigting ang labanan habang papalapit ang resulta, hanggang sa koronahan ang Sapphire Nets bilang 2nd Runner-Up, sinundan ng Diamond Dribblers bilang 1st Runner-Up, habang ang Pitchblende Rings ang humakot ng pinakamalaking palakpak matapos ideklarang Champion, bitbit ang kanilang pink-themed DIY uniforms at isang performance na nagpakita ng matinding synchronization, confidence at team spirit.

Higit pa sa kumpetisyon, ipinakita ng Grade 6 Cheerdance Competition na ang Arts Performance Task ay maaaring maging makulay, masaya at makabuluhang karanasan sa pagkatuto, dahil mula sa pagdidisenyo at pagpi-print ng sariling uniforms hanggang sa pagbuo ng choreography at pag-eensayo ng bawat galaw, natutunan ng mga mag-aaral na ang tunay na sining ay hindi lamang nakikita sa entablado kundi nabubuo sa pagkamalikhain, pagtutulungan, tiyaga at pagmamalaki sa sariling likha.
