The virtual academic initiative brought together students and faculty from both institutions to engage in collaborative learning and cross-cultural exchange. The program highlighted the importance of international cooperation in developing digital competencies and global perspectives.
The COIL project was led by College of Information and Digital Sciences Dean ๐๐ง๐ค๐. ๐๐๐ก๐ค๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ค ๐. ๐ผ๐ก๐๐, ๐๐.๐ฟ, who served as Project Lead. One of the program's primary objectives was to enable students to apply the basic principles of web design by creating and enhancing webpage layouts. Participants demonstrated their understanding of website structure, navigation, typography, color combinations, spacing, images, and other user-friendly design elements. The activity provided students with practical opportunities to develop functional and visually appealing webpages.
The project also aimed to strengthen studentsโ creativity, critical thinking, and digital skills through collaborative design tasks. Students from DSSC and NMU worked together in teams, exchanging ideas and insights as they solved web design challenges. This collaborative environment enhanced their communication and teamwork skills while fostering meaningful academic interactions.
Moreover, the program promoted cross-cultural learning and global awareness by encouraging participants to share perspectives, design styles, and web development practices from their respective countries. Through these exchanges, students gained a deeper appreciation of cultural diversity and international collaboration. The experience also helped prepare them for future digital careers by providing valuable exposure to web design, problem-solving, teamwork, freelancing opportunities, entrepreneurship, and employment-related skills.

The Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Program titled โ๐๐ค๐ข๐๐ฃ ๐๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ฃ๐ฉ๐ก๐๐ฃ๐๐จ ๐ค๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐: ๐ผ ๐๐ก๐ค๐๐๐ก ๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐๐จ ๐๐ค๐ง๐๐จ๐๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ค๐ง๐ฉโ successfully culminated on ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฎ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ. The international academic initiative was jointly conducted by Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) in the Philippines and California State University Stanislaus (CSU Stanislaus) in the United States. The program brought together students and faculty members in a virtual learning environment focused on womenโs leadership and future workforce trends.
The project was facilitated by ๐๐ป๐๐๐ฟ. ๐ก๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ป๐ผ-๐ฎ๐ฐ, ๐ ๐๐, from the College of Mathematics, Arts and Sciences of DSSC, and ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ. ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐, ๐ฃ๐ต๐, from the College of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences of CSU Stanislaus. Their collaboration provided students with opportunities to engage in meaningful intercultural dialogue and academic engagement. Through guided discussions and collaborative activities, participants explored emerging global issues affecting women across different societies.
A total of 76 undergraduate students from DSSC enrolled in the Global Trends and Foresight course participated in the program. They collaborated with 35 students from CSU Stanislaus enrolled in the Comparative World Women course under Gender Studies and History, most of whom were undergraduate juniors and seniors. The diverse group of participants contributed insights drawn from their respective academic disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
One of the primary objectives of the COIL project was to promote global citizenship and sustainability awareness through intercultural collaboration aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 16, and 17. The program also strengthened studentsโ critical thinking skills by examining womenโs evolving roles in leadership, employment, and gender equality from cross-country perspectives linked to SDGs 5 and 8. Through comparative analysis and discussions, students gained a broader understanding of global workforce systems and social transformation.
The culmination activity showcased studentsโ outputs in trend analysis, scenario building, and forecasting exercises that explored the future of womenโs leadership amid technological, economic, and social changes. Participants also developed innovative, policy-oriented recommendations to create equitable, future-ready opportunities for women while supporting SDGs 5, 8, and 17. The program further enhanced intercultural competence, teamwork, and global collaboration skills, reinforcing the value of international partnerships in higher education.

This Polish-Filipino academic collaboration brought together students from DSSC and UAM under the courses Stylistics and Discourse Analysis and Biographical Method, respectively. Through the comparative study of letters written by migrants and their loved ones in the Philippines and Poland, participants gained deeper insights into the human experiences, emotions, and realities behind migration. By fostering intercultural dialogue, critical reflection, and global understanding, the project exemplified the transformative power of international education and virtual collaboration.

The Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Culmination entitled โ๐ผ๐ง๐ฉ ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐ค๐ฃ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐ฟ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ก: ๐พ๐ค๐ก๐ก๐๐๐ค๐ง๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐ข๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐โ successfully concluded on๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ, via Microsoft Teams. The seven-week international project brought together students from the Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) in the Philippines and Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poland to navigate creativity, teamwork, and intercultural understanding through filmmaking. The virtual culmination featured an online film premiere, team reflections, project highlights, and a mentor feedback session that celebrated the studentsโ collaborative achievements.
The program aimed to develop studentsโ collaborative skills by engaging them in short film production within international online groups. Participants were also encouraged to apply creative and technical filmmaking skills such as scripting, directing, and editing while working in a virtual environment. Moreover, the project provided an opportunity for students to compare and discuss artistic learning journey, cultural similarities, and diverse perspectives with their international peers, strengthening global awareness and communication.
The project involved 40 students, including 22 from DSSC and 18 from AMU, divided into five groups composed of members from both institutions. Guiding the students throughout the program were mentors, Instr. Jarsey Krim A. Taub, Instr. Lou Danielle C. Lofranco, and Instr. Arnie B. Grajo from DSSC, alongside Prof. Adam Domalewski from AMU. Through the successful completion of the COIL project, the participating institutions demonstrated the value of international collaboration in education, proving that creativity and meaningful connections can thrive beyond geographical boundaries.
