| CTEd Sends Off Pre-Service Teachers in Ceremonial Rite of Passage

โ€œToday, we gather not just for a program, but for a meaningful milestone in the academic and professional journey of our future educators; when theory meets practice, and years of learning inside the classroom are brought into real teaching environments.โ€

This was how Pedro Mandrial Jr., MAEd, faculty member of the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science, opened the Send-Off Ceremony of the College of Teacher Education (CTEd), setting a reflective and celebratory tone for pre-service teachers about to begin their teaching internships.

The ceremony formally marked the transition of student teachers from campus-based learning to actual classroom immersion. It began with a processional march of pre-service teachers, accompanied by their parents, faculty and staff, and school administrators, including the president and vice president for academic affairs, symbolizing the collective support behind the interns as they step into professional practice.

Following an audio-visual presentation, Mandrial emphasized that the internship is more than an academic requirement, describing it as a โ€œrite of passageโ€ that will test skills, strengthen character, and refine commitment to the teaching profession. He urged the pre-service teachers to teach with heart, learn with humility, and serve with integrity, while also expressing gratitude to parents for their unwavering support throughout their childrenโ€™s academic journey.

CTEd Internship Coordinator Evangeline Pagal, MAEd, delivered a special message reminding interns that practice teaching is a learning process rather than a pursuit of perfection. She encouraged them to bring with them the knowledge gained at Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) and remain open to growth once they enter their assigned classrooms.

The program was enlivened by an intermission performance from the Teatro Davsuranon Cultural Ensemble, which added a cultural highlight to the event.

An inspirational message was later given by Johanna Sepe, LPT, who placed Top 6 in the September 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Drawing from her own experience, she encouraged the interns to persevere through challenges and remain focused on their purpose as future educators.

The ceremonyโ€™s central highlight was the send-off and nameplate pinning, participated in by both pre-service teachers and their parents. The symbolic act underscored shared responsibility, trust, and pride as the interns officially embarked on their teaching journey.

Reneboy Jr. M. Yuco, governor of the United League of Education Students (ULES), spoke on the importance of the send-off, noting that it serves as a moment of reflection on the studentsโ€™ growth and a reminder of the professional standards they are expected to uphold.

The program concluded with a send-off song performed by all student teachers, closing the ceremony on a unified and hopeful note.

As CTEdโ€™s pre-service teachers prepare to report to their respective partner schools, the Send-Off Ceremony stood as both a celebration and a charge, honoring the journey that brought them to this point and the responsibility they now carry as future educators.

| CTEd Dean Monitors Hybrid Learning Operations

Dr. Cindy B. Rosil, Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTEd), conducted a targeted monitoring visit to the modular classrooms on January 19, 2025. This activity focused on overseeing the implementation of the collegeโ€™s hybrid learning setup, which balances in-person specialized instruction with digital delivery.
During the visit, Dr. Rosil observed CTEd instructors engaging with students in face-to-face sessions for major subjects. These physical classes are a core component of the current academic framework, allowing for deeper interaction in specialized fields of study.

The Dean also checked on faculty members stationed at the main CTEd office who were facilitating online synchronous sessions for General Education courses. By monitoring both environments, she ensured that teaching activities across all modalities remained efficient and aligned with institutional standards.

This initiative reaffirms the collegeโ€™s dedication to maintaining high-quality instruction and providing essential support for faculty. Through these regular visits, CTEd continues to prioritize a seamless educational experience for both teachers and students.
