To ensure the absence of prohibited substances in the school, the Barkada Kontra Droga launched its Oplan Kalkal on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Oplan Kalkal’ program is a weekly checking of bags among high school students to ensure that alcohols, ci******es, v**es and drugs will not be brought in the school premise.
According to BKD Pres. Renalyn Jose, “We could assure that gateway drugs, such as alcohol and ci******es, and other illegal drugs can be stopped from spreading in the school if we have an ‘Oplan Kalkal’ program.”
More than ten electronic ci******es and v**e devices were already confiscated through the said program upon its three-day separate implementation.
The program was commended by the school head, Dr. Martija as it is “timely and relevant ” initiative to counter the dangers and disastrous effects of drug abuse inside the school premises.
Moreover, Baby Jane Corodva, 42, one of the school parents, showed her support andappreciation to the program during the signing of a memorandum letter for its implementation in a Homeroom Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting.
“This program will protect my child from the crimes that drugs may inflict,” Cordova said in an interview.
BKD is a school based organization that aims to establish preventive education and information programs on illegal drugs.

Two school organization presidents were elected as district federated officers during the District Federated Election for BKD and YES-O officers held in San Antonio Integrated School (SAIS) on September 18, 2024.
Renalyn Jose was designated as the Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) District Federated secretary while Jemuel N. Vicente was chosen as Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) District Federated treasurer.
In front of the 17 participants from the nine schools in Diffun District 1, Jose, Grade 10, highlighted in her speech the Oplan Kalkal or the weekly checking of bags of students as one of her platforms against illegal drugs,
Vicente, Grade 11, on the other hand, emphasized his advocacy on raising awareness and green initiatives to protect the environment.
During the said electoral endeavor, said two student-leaders were accompanied by their advisers in their respective organizations, Mr. Michael M. Obello and Mr. Jericho Martin, who were both new school teachers.
The said one-day event was facilitated by the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) Federated Officers of Diffun District 1 including SIIS SSLG President Nur Cinar as its federated secretary.
