Before the first period. After the last period. Still a teacher.
The classroom is quiet before the first learner arrives. Chairs are arranged, the board is ready, and a lesson plan sits within reach.
Then the day begins...
There are papers to check during vacant periods, questions to answer between classes, activities to prepare, and lessons to adjust when a class needs a little more time. There are quick conversations in the hallway, reminders before dismissal, and another stack of work waiting after the students have gone home.
For a teacher, these moments make up an ordinary school day.
This National Teachers' Month, the spotlight turns to you.
To the teacher who comes prepared even after a long night.
To the teacher who checks one more paper before going home.
To the teacher who remembers a student's question from yesterday.
To the teacher who patiently answers a student's query on Messenger at night.
To the teacher who makes a new approach for another explanation, another attempt, another day of learning.
This month, we celebrate the work found in the routines, the preparation, the patience, and the time teachers give to their students each day.

Through it all, there is the pencil.
The pencil gets passed around the classroom, finding its way through activity sheets, notebooks, and written work.
When its point grows dull, someone always sharpens it โ the teacher.
With a sharpener in hand, the teacher brings the pencil back to a point, ready for the next task, the next answer, the next lesson.
And sometimes, the lesson needs sharpening too.
A new approach. A different example. Another explanation.
The pencil is sharpened. The lesson is refined. And the learner gets another chance to try.
At the end of the day, the pencil rests.
Until its point finds its way toward the person who spent the day keeping it sharp.

And now, the pencil points to you.
The same pencil that spent the day writing lessons, checking answers, and guiding learners now turns toward the person who held it through it all.
This National Teachers Month, the SSLG recognizes the everyday work behind every written lesson, every checked paper, and every moment spent helping a learner understand.
Happy National Teachers Month, ma'ams and sirs! ๐โ๏ธ
