๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
In loving memory of Hon. Dakila Carlo Dax Cua
Yesterday, Quirino lost not only a Governor, but a leader who dedicated a significant part of his life to opening doors of opportunity for his people.
And today, as we say our last goodbye, the words are difficult to find.
For many of us QSUJuans and QSUJuanas, Governor Dax Cua was more than a name in government. His leadership became part of our university story. He was one of the principal legislators who co-authored and sponsored House Bill No. 4413, which was then enacted into Republic Act No. 10230, the law that converted Quirino State College into Quirino State University, bringing together the institutions in Diffun, Cabarroguis, and Maddela and creating greater opportunities for Quirinians to pursue higher education. Because of that vision, generations of QSUJuans and QSUJuanas have been given a place to learn, dream, lead, and build a future without having to leave their province behind.
But his legacy did not end with the law.
It continued in every semestral payout of educational assistance that helped students continue their studies; in the leadership opportunities that allowed young Quirinians to discover their potential and serve their communities; and in the relief operations and assistance extended to stranded students and families during difficult times.
For countless students, these were not simply government programs. They were moments when someone reminded them that their dreams mattered, that their education mattered, and that they were not alone.
And for the people of Quirino, his years of public service were marked by programs that sought to bring government closer to ordinary families. Even in the final days of his service, provincial programs continued to reach communities, including assistance intended for families facing food and livelihood difficulties.
Governor Dax Cua's passing leaves a silence that will be difficult to fill.
But perhaps a life of public service is never truly measured by the length of the time one remains in office. It is measured by the lives that continue moving forward because of what that person built.
Every QSU graduate who walks across the stage.
Every student who receives another semester of educational assistance.
Every young leader who is given a chance to serve.
Every Quirinian who finds help in a difficult moment.
Every dream that becomes possible because an opportunity was once opened.
These will be part of his lasting goodbye.
The bill he helped author gave our University its name and its greater mission. The programs he supported gave many of us opportunities to continue that mission. And the people he served will carry his memory long after this moment of mourning has passed.
Governor Dax, from the QSU community and from the countless Quirinians whose lives you touched,
Thank you for believing that education could change lives.
Thank you for opening doors for the youth.
Thank you for giving opportunities to those who needed them.
Thank you for serving Quirino.
This may be our last goodbye to you in this life, but it is not goodbye to the legacy you leave behind.
Your journey has ended, but the dreams you helped build continue.
Rest peacefully, Governor Dakila Carlo โDaxโ Cua.
We will make sure that the University you helped establish continue to produce generations of QSUJuans and QSUJuanas who will serve with the same spirit of dedication to the people. And may every Quirinian who benefits from the opportunities you helped create remember the man who once believed that a better future for Quirino was worth building.
Until we meet again.
This is not just goodbye.
This is our last goodbye.
