SPORTS NEWS | SMA OPENS THE MSA INTER-HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT WITH A WIN!

The Inter-High School Basketball Tournament, sponsored by the Florentino Ruiz Foundation, officially opened on August 15, 2026, at the Saint Vincent School (SVS) Gymnasium in Maddela, Quirino, bringing together 10 participating schools for a celebration of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy competition.

The opening program was highlighted by an inspirational message from SVS Maddela School Principal, Ma'am Annabel G. Tacadena, who expressed her gratitude to the Florentino Ruiz Foundation for providing meaningful opportunities like this for the youth.

In her message, Mam Annabel reminded the athletes that winning or losing is not the most important thing. What matters most is playing with respect, integrity, and faith in God. She encouraged the players to use sports as a way to build character, discipline, skills, and friendships among schoolsโ€”friendships that can last a lifetime.

The Saint Maryโ€™s Academy of Diffun (SMA) proudly took the court on opening day and faced Saint Vincent School (SVS). With determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship, our SMArt Academians came out victorious!

Leading and supporting our athletes are OSA and Sports Coordinator Sir Christian John Bernabe, Basketball Coach Sir Rey Paulo Salting, and Sir Donald Rillorta. Their dedication and guidance continue to inspire our athletes to give their best both on and off the court.

The successful staging of this tournament is made possible through the support and leadership of DBES Superintendent Rev. Fr. Romulo C. Felix, PhD., together with the school administrators and the generous support of the Florentino Ruiz Foundation.

More than a basketball tournament, this event is an opportunity for young athletes to compete with heart, play with integrity, strengthen friendships, and grow together.

School News | Drum and Lyre Corps Training Begins.

The rhythm is on, the spirit is high, and our Grade School and High School Drum and Lyre Corps are ready to shine!

Training has officially begun as our SMArt Academians prepare for the upcoming Sports Festival on September 7โ€“9, 2026.
With dedication, discipline, teamwork, and Marian spirit, our young performers are working hard to bring energy and excellence to the big event.

Leading the training are our talented and dedicated advisersโ€”Maโ€™am Jomelyn Tuguinayo, Maโ€™am Princess Braulio, Maโ€™am Jhessa Mae Busania, and Maโ€™am Arabelle Gasminโ€”whose commitment and guidance continue to inspire our learners.

This preparation is made possible through the support and leadership of our DBES Superintendent, Rev. Fr. Romulo C. Felix, PhD., together with the School Administrators, who continue to support the development of our learnersโ€™ talents and abilities.

Friday Holy Mass | August 14, 2026

The Grade School Department of Saint Maryโ€™s Academy of Diffun, Inc. gathered in faith and gratitude for the celebration of the Friday Holy Mass on August 14, 2026, presided over by our School Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Johnson C. Logan.

In his homily, Fr. Johnson reminded the faithful of the important role of children in strengthening the family. He emphasized that children can become a bridge that brings family members closer together and a bond that helps parents remain united despite lifeโ€™s challenges. Through their love, presence, and values, children can inspire parents to nurture a stronger, more loving, and faith-centered family.

The celebration was made more meaningful as the Mass was served by the new members of the Lectors and Commentators Ministry (LCM) of the Grade School Department, under the leadership of Sir Leo Mark Tiap, Campus Ministry Coordinator. Their participation reflected the Marian spirit of service, devotion, responsibility, and commitment to the faith community.

This faith-filled celebration is part of the continuing spiritual formation of our learners, made possible through the leadership of DBES Superintendent, Rev. Fr. Romulo C. Felix, PhD., together with the school administrators, who continue to foster a culture of faith, service, and excellence throughout the school community.

As we continue to form our young learners not only in knowledge but also in faith and values, may every celebration of the Holy Eucharist remind us that a strong family begins with love, faith, unity, and a willingness to serve one another.

SCRC hosts Intramurals Meeting

The Socio-Cultural Recreational Council (SCRC), conducted a general meeting of all units for the upcoming Intramurals and events by the Saint Pedro Calungsod Gym, August 3.

Ma'am Angelie Cordero, the Unit 2 Adviser, with the SCRC Adviser, Sir Christian John G. Bernabe, introduced the following events like Nutrition Month, Buwan ng Wika and Intramurals and their respected contests.

They also added what were the agendas and criteria for each contest.

Lastly, the candidates of Mr. and Ms. Intramurals from each unit, introduced themselves for further recognition.

Practices for sports, pageant, and more, will be continuous before the start of Intramurals and other events.

SMA Drum and Lyre Corps Invited to Welcome LTIA National Validation Team

The Saint Mary's Academy of Diffun (SMA) Drum and Lyre Corps was honored to be invited to render a welcome performance for the National Validation Team during the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) National Onsite Validation held at Andres Bonifacio, Diffun, Quirino on July 29, 2026.

Through their synchronized performances, discipline, and musical excellence, the members of the SMA Drum and Lyre Corps proudly showcased the school's commitment to developing confident, talented, and service-oriented learners. Their remarkable performance added color and prestige to the event while leaving a lasting impression on the distinguished guests and participants.

The successful participation of the Drum and Lyre Corps was made possible through the dedication and guidance of their SMArt advisers, Ma'am Jomelyn Oria Tuguinayo and Ma'am Jhessa Mae M. Busania , whose unwavering support continues to inspire the students to strive for excellence.

This meaningful engagement reflects the unwavering commitment of Saint Mary's Academy of Diffun to nurturing students' talents and leadership through various opportunities beyond the classroom. It was made possible through the leadership of Rev. Fr. Romulo C. Felix, PhD., DBES Superintendent, together with the school administrators, in supporting programs that promote excellence, discipline, and holistic development among SMArt learners.
