In 2018, as a research teacher at Dujali National High School, I witnessed firsthand the struggles of student-researchersโlong nights of writing, confusion over methodology, and the financial burden of printing and binding their papers. These challenges planted a simple yet powerful ๐ฌ๐๐๐: ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ง๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ ๐๐ญ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฃ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก.
For a time, that desire remained only a vision as responsibilities and overlapping tasks pushed it aside. Yet, like a seed waiting for the right season, the opportunity returned when the I once again became involved in guiding research students. Conversations with the School Planning Team soon followed, highlighting the real challenges faced by Senior High School researchers.
๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐จ๐จ๐ค ๐ซ๐จ๐จ๐ญ.Through the leadership of Dr. Dominador P. Alagdon, Jr., and the initiatives of the planning team, practical assistance for students began to materialize. Reams of bond paper were provided through Mr. Marvin Oreta, while the establishment of a Research Hubโthrough the efforts of Mr. Jhonry L. Morado and Mr. Cesar Agueloโcreated a dedicated space where students could work on their studies.
These developments were inspired by a very simple student research study conducted by Grade 12 STEM learners titled โ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐จ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก: ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ฒ,โ headed by Mr. Froyd Carbajosa and Ms. Jezaniah Sumangil. The study captured the realities faced by student-researchers and eventually qualified for the Dabaonon Research Congress. Mr. Ruel Jr Gomez being the presenter, the research later won First Place in the District Competition and advanced to the Division Level.
Through the simple study, support for the research community continued to grow. A large printer was later provided under the leadership of Research Coordinator Ms. B. Guibone followed by another printer and a photocopier through the support of Dr. Melchor D. Alamis. Together with the Research Hub, these resources helped ease the burdens faced by student-researchers and strengthened the schoolโs commitment to nurturing research.
Today, the Research Hub stands as a symbol of a growing research cultureโwhere ideas are refined, manuscripts are completed, and students learn the discipline of academic inquiry.
And now, another heightened and strong advocacy spearheaded by the visionary leadership of Dr. Lourdes Rosalez Alvarez, the schoolโs current principal and an advocate of research, a research culture reached another greater milestone. On March 13, 2026, Dujali National High School successfully revived its School-Based Research Congressโan event last held in 2019.
The congress brought together passionate student-researchers who confidently presented their studies through oral and poster presentations. With the guidance of experienced evaluators and the encouragement of teachers, the event became more than a competitionโit became a celebration of learning, perseverance, and scholarly growth.
The success of the event reflected the collective effort of the entire school community. From the school leadership and Technical Working Group to teachers, advisers, parents, and generous sponsorsโincluding Mr. and Mrs. Ginsola and Mr. and Mrs. Gumapacโeveryone played a role in supporting the students. Many advisers even lent their personal printers and laptops, while student groups spent late hours in the Research Hub finalizing and binding their manuscripts.
What once began as a small desire to help has now grown into something far greater.
Like a seed planted years ago, that simple intention has blossomed into a thriving treeโone whose fruits are now enjoyed by many learners. Student-researchers are no longer burdened by heavy printing expenses, and they now have access to resources that allow them to focus on discovery and learning.
Indeed, the seed has grown into a tree of abundance.
And as the school continues to strengthen its research culture, one truth remains clear: great transformations often begin with the simplest intentions.
To everyone who contributed to this journeyโto the supported, ever dynamic and hands on school leader, Dr. Lourdes Rosalez Alvarez, evaluators, teachers, the Technical Working Group, sponsors, parents, and most especially the student-researchersโyour dedication has made a lasting difference.
Above all, with grateful hearts, the entire community gives thanks.
But of all these achievement, it is God who orchestrated. Indeed, to HIM be the highest gloryโthis is a great thing He has done.
