⚖️ From the classroom to the courtroom.

A defining moment for the students of the Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. – College of Law as our Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) students, under the supervision of our CLEP supervising lawyers, appeared as collaborating counsels in nine (9) Petitions for Habeas Corpus.

This milestone reflects the true purpose of clinical legal education—providing law students with meaningful, hands-on experience while serving those in need of legal assistance. By participating in actual court proceedings, our students gain invaluable practical training, strengthen their advocacy skills, and deepen their understanding of the lawyer's responsibility to uphold justice and protect fundamental rights.

At JMCFI College of Law, we believe that the best legal education is one that combines academic excellence with genuine service to the community. Today, our students are not merely studying the law—they are putting it into practice.

JMCFI LAW HOLDS 2026 ADVANCEMENT EVALUATION: RAISING THE BAR, ONE STUDENT AT A TIME

Davao City — The JMCFI College of Law conducted its 2026 Advancement Evaluation last June 20-21, 2026, gathering non-graduating law students in a formal examination that has become one of the most distinctive hallmarks of legal education at Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc.

The examination rooms were filled with focused, determined students — future lawyers in the making — seated in disciplined rows. The images speak for themselves: these are students who take their formation seriously, in a school that takes them seriously in return.

More Than an Examination

The Advancement Evaluation is not an ordinary departmental exam. It is the law school's formal gatekeeping mechanism, administered before any non-graduating student may advance to the next year of the Juris Doctor program.

Before you move forward at JMCFI, you must prove you are ready.

The examination covers the core legal subjects of the student’s current year level, tests doctrinal competency and analytical reasoning, and measures the student’s capacity to apply legal principles to factual situations, precisely the skill set that the Philippine Bar Examinations will demand.

The law school designed this process around a single conviction: that a law degree must mean something. Every student who earns the right to advance at JMCFI does so because he or she has demonstrated, under examination conditions, that they are ready for the next level of legal study.

What sets the JMCFI Advancement Evaluation apart is what comes after the exam.

Faculty members will also identify gaps in doctrine and analysis, and prescribe concrete interventions to the students. The goal is to form them into lawyers who are genuinely ready for the Bar and for practice.
