Ateneo de Davao University stands in grief and solidarity with Ateneo de Zamboanga University following the violence that struck their community.

We mourn those whose lives were lost. We pray for those who were injured, for the families of all those affected, and for the entire AdZU community.

We strongly condemn gun violence. There is no place for guns and armed violence in our schools and communities. A fi***rm must never become an answer to anger, conflict, grievance, or despair. We must reject any normalization of guns and violence in the lives of our young people.

Our schools must be places where human life is protected and where students can learn without fear. This tragedy reminds us that protecting these spaces requires not only prayer and solidarity but also vigilance, responsibility, and concrete action.

No to gun violence. No to weapons in our schools. No to the normalization of violence.

To our brothers and sisters at Ateneo de Zamboanga University: you are not alone. The Ateneo de Davao community stands with you in grief, prayer, and solidarity.

Filipino can be challenging not just for Atenistas, but for many of us.

Language is dynamic. It changes across generations, communities, and even the way we communicate every day. Some Filipino words we rarely hear now may have been completely familiar to previous generations, while newer expressions continue to become part of how we speak today.

And here’s another fun fact: at Ateneo de Davao JHS, we actually have two Filipino learning programs!

πŸ“˜ Regular Filipino Class β€” where students study the Filipino language, literature, culture, and communication.

🌏 FFFS (Filipino for Foreign Students) β€” covers Filipino as well, but with additional guidance and support for foreign students and transferees from international schools who may have had less exposure to the language.

Because learning a language isn’t the same journey for everyone, and that’s what makes it interesting. ✨

And if you’ve ever wondered what an FFFS class actually looks like…

You’re about to meet some of the students learning Filipino through it. πŸ˜‰
