My Scholastic Readers Cup Experience
Last October 14–15, 2025, I experienced a significant milestone in my teaching career.
I traveled to Manila for the first time, took my first plane ride, and represented Southpoint School at the Scholastic Readers Cup held at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Ortigas, Quezon City.
This opportunity was given to me by Ma’am Cherryl Abrigo, our Chief Learning Officer. I was selected because I shared my strategies for helping students increase their passed book quizzes and because my class achieved the highest average of passed book quizzes last school year. Knowing that my efforts made a real difference for my learners strengthened my commitment to teaching.
On October 14, we checked in at Holiday Inn Manila Galleria. Before the event, I had the chance to visit places such as Robinsons Galleria, IKEA, SM Mall of Asia, and the Venice Grand Canal. I am grateful to Dr. Judith Bacarro, our school principal, for taking the time to tour me around and making my first trip to Manila a truly memorable experience.
On October 15, we attended the Readers Cup. This year’s theme, “Hop On! A Scholastic Learning Odyssey,” highlighted the achievements of schools that continue to promote a strong reading culture through the PR1ME English Program.
One of the moments I am most proud of was when Southpoint School received the 40 Books Read Award. This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students, and the school community’s belief that reading builds confidence and opens new opportunities.
I believe that reading is a powerful skill. It strengthens writing, expands imagination, and supports learning across all subjects. With the help of the Scholastic Learning Zone, students have access to valuable resources, and teachers can guide their progress more effectively.
I am thankful to Scholastic Philippines, to Sir Miklos, our Program Consultant, and to Southpoint School for trusting me with this meaningful experience.
This journey reminded me of an important truth. When we put our heart into teaching, we help our students grow, and in the process, we grow as educators as well.

SCHOOL SCHEDULE
Happy Friday greetings of peace!
As October ends, here’s our schedule for the coming days. We wish for a Mental Health break too, but our schedule is tight as it is. DepEd respects the discretion of private schools like ours.
Wishing everyone a productive week ahead!
