The Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) students of the University of Mindanao Professional Schools recently returned from an eye-opening 5-day International Field Exposure in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, held from June 28 to July 2, 2026.
Under the guidance of Course Facilitator, Dr. Rosalia T. Gabronino, for the course DBA 204 (International Business and Managerial Ethics), the delegation had the opportunity to visit leading institutions across manufacturing, healthcare, and higher education. The objective was to observe how foreign enterprises balance rapid growth, operational excellence, and strong ethical values in todayโs global market.
Here are the key highlights from their journey across Ho Chi Minh City:

The delegation's first stop took them behind the scenes of one of Vietnamโs leading food processing enterprises. From automated production lines to strict temperature-controlled storage, the students observed firsthand how high standards in food safety drive operational success. Beyond the impressive facility setup, what touched the delegates most was the genuine warmth and hospitality of LC Foodsโ executive team. Despite a very busy schedule, Mr. Le Van Son, Standing Deputy General Director, personally welcomed the group, gave an overview of the company, spent time answering their questions about managing large-scale operations, and shared their finished products during a special tasting session.

At Novartis Vietnam, the DBA delegation was hosted for an open and meaningful conversation on responsible business, ethical leadership, and purpose-driven healthcare. It was a proud moment for the Filipino delegates to be hosted by Country President Mr. Jondy Syjuco, a fellow Filipino leading a major global healthcare company in Vietnam. The interactive session covered key business areas including strategy, governance, digital transformation, and sustainability, with a strong focus on how ethics guides everyday decisions. The discussion highlighted Novartisโs commitment to reimagine medicine to improve and extend people's lives by acting with integrity, protecting patients, and building trust.

The official visits concluded at UEF, where the delegation was warmly welcomed by university leaders, department heads, and faculty members. The students explored UEF's modern campus, learned about their bilingual education setup, and discussed how the university collaborates with industry partners to prepare career-ready graduates. It was a meaningful academic exchange that opened doors for future institutional collaboration and cross-cultural learning.
This international exposure reinforced that true business leadership requires more than focusing on financial returns alone. Whether managing a food manufacturing plant, leading a multinational healthcare enterprise, or steering a higher education institution, sustainable success comes down to three things: solid standard operating procedures, continuous learning, and an unwavering commitment to ethical integrity.
Returning home to the Philippines, the delegates bring back valuable operational insights, meaningful connections with international industry leaders, and unforgettable memories with classmates and mentor.
Sincere appreciation goes to the University of Mindanao administration, the UM Professional Schools, Dr. Rosalia T. Gabronino for her guidance, and the gracious hosts at LC Foods, Novartis Vietnam, and UEF for welcoming the delegation warmly and sharing their time and expertise.
Special thanks also go to travel partner Liamdrei Travel and Tours for seamlessly managing travel arrangements, accommodations, and local logistics, ensuring a safe, smooth, and highly productive experience throughout the delegation's stay in Vietnam.
