Completing the National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS), students were recognized during the Seventh NSTP-CWTS Commencement Exercise held June 19, 2026 at Davao Medical School Foundation Incorporated Third Floor Amphitheater.
With the theme โEmpowered youth, committed to service and nation-building,โ the ceremony highlighted the role of the Filipino youth in the betterment of their communities and nation.
Furthermore, faculty members and the deans of different colleges gathered to honor the graduates for their achievement and commitment throughout the program.
The ceremony commenced with an invocation led by Faye Annielice Mangubat, followed by the singing of the national anthem, and Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas led by Gabbi Patoc. It was then followed by welcome remarks from the dean of colleges, Dr. Erwin Rommel Hontiveros, MD, MHPed, and a message from the guest speaker, Mr. Ednar Gempesaw Dayanghirang, where they emphasized the importance of volunteerism, and social responsibility in addressing the challenges faced by the country.
A key part of the program was the messages shared by Anne Beatrice Pelegrino, APMEd class president, and Jane Terwel, Midwifery class president, wherein they represented the graduates and the new knowledge they acquired through the program.
โWe came in as students thinking service was something you do. We are leaving, realizing it is something you become,โ Beatrice Pelegrino stated, looking back on the first days as NSTP-CWTS students.
The presidents also shared experiences and lessons encountered throughout the program.
โNSTP taught us that meaningful service does not begin with grand actionsโit begins with awareness, it begins when we choose to look beyond ourselves and recognize that someone somewhere may simply need a helping hand,โ Jane Terwel mentioned in her speech as she reflected on her experiences.
In addition, Terwel and Pelegrino also encouraged their fellow graduates to bring what they learned to their community.
โMay we continue to use our hands not only to feel our own dreams, but also to help others achieve theirs,โ Terwel added
โService is not an act we perform, it is a legacy we leave behind,โ Pelegrino reminded.
Another highlight of the program was the different performances shared by the students, where they showcased their musicality in a diverse set of performances, as well as their togetherness, as each cheered for others.
The event concluded with the students singing their graduation song, โHawak Kamay,โ and a photo opportunity with faculty and school administrators.
Armed with knowledge, skills, and values gained through NSTP-CWTS, it is now the beginning of a youth better prepared to contribute meaningfully to society, and become agents of change.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ | ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐?
Imagine carrying a backpack that gets heavier every year.
Inside are expectations, comparisons, disappointments, mistakes, failures, and the pressure to become someone extraordinary. Eventually, the weight becomes so familiar you stop noticing itโs even there.
Then one day, a question slips in: โ๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ ๐จ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก?โ
Not the kind of question we ask out loud. It's the one that appears after a setback. The one that lingers after seeing someone else succeed. The one that sits quietly beside us during long nights, difficult choices, and moments when we feel like we're carrying more than we can bear.
We live in a world that celebrates accomplishments, but rarely the battles fought behind them. We see the milestones and achievementsโbut not the doubts, sacrifices, and failures that shape them. And often, even the strongest among us are the ones silently asking whether they are enough to continue.
Perhaps growth begins with that question.
Because beyond every moment of uncertainty is a story of courage. Beyond every setback is a lesson waiting to be learned. And beyond every fear of not being enough is the possibility of discovering who you truly are.
In this week's Unmuted Series, ๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก?, we uncover the voices behind the victories and the lessons hidden within life's most challenging moments.
Some stories will inspire you.
Others might heal you.
And one of them might feel like it was written just for you.
