Our Grade 11 and 12 parents and guardians gathered on August 15 for a meaningful Parenting Formation Session on “𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍, 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒕 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆: 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑨𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕” under the Safe and Caring School Community Program.

With the guidance of 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐃. 𝐙𝐨𝐬𝐚, 𝐑𝐏𝐦, 𝐑𝐏𝐬𝐲, parents reflected on how they can remain connected and supportive as their children navigate greater independence, responsibility, and important life decisions.

The session reminded us that as children grow older, parenting also evolves—from making decisions for them to 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬.

Thank you to our resource speaker and to all our parents and guardians for taking the time to learn and reflect with us. Together, we continue to strengthen the partnership between home and school in building a safe and caring community for our learners. 💙💛

Safe at School, Connected at Home: Guiding Preteens in Safety, Emotional Regulation, and Responsible Choices

Our Grade 4–6 parents and guardians came together on August 13 for another meaningful session of the Parenting Formation Series under the Safe and Caring School Community Program.

With the guidance of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐎. 𝐋𝐞𝐲𝐬𝐚, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, 𝐑𝐏𝐬𝐲, 𝐑𝐏𝐦, 𝐋𝐏𝐓, parents explored practical ways to support preteens through connection, emotional regulation, responsible choices, healthy technology habits, and consistent guidance—with a reminder to reframe behavior as development, pause before reacting, coach responsible choices, model healthy tech habits, and stay connected with the school.

By age five, the brain has already reached about 𝟗𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞. Every brushstroke, shared toy, and little discovery helps build creativity, confidence, communication, and social skills.

On August 11 2026, our CDSI parents and guardians gathered for the first session of our Parenting Formation Series under the Safe and Caring School Community Program.

With the theme “𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞: 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧,” we explored how parents can help young children develop a strong sense of safety, emotional security, confidence, and resilience through everyday relationships and experiences.

The Safe and Caring School Community Program continues its commitment to strengthening a school community where every learner feels safe, supported, understood, and included.

Our second Teacher and Staff Capacity-Building Session, “Supporting Every Learner: Practical Classroom Strategies for Participation, Self-Regulation, and Inclusion,” provided our teaching and non-teaching personnel with meaningful insights and practical strategies for responding to the diverse needs of our learners.

It was especially meaningful to welcome back 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐂. 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚, 𝐎𝐓𝐑𝐏, one of CDSI’s first batch of Senior High School graduates. From being a learner in our community to returning as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and educator, her journey is a beautiful reminder of how our learners continue to grow and make a difference beyond the walls of CDSI. 💙💛

We are grateful to Ms. Regine for sharing her knowledge, experience, and expertise with our CDSI community.
