Today is National Working Mom Day, and although many of us raised by single, working-class mothers show love and appreciate towards their hard work, dedication and determination often, let us highlight the barriers, obstacles and realities that they face every day. 💓

A significant portion of the work force in the U.S. is composed of working-class mothers, yet, they earn less money on average compared to women without children. In fact, mothers experience 5-10% less per child compared to women without children in similar roles. 💸

On top of the disadvantages women face in the workforce, they also have an extra layer of labor expected within their homes. Working-class mothers are expected to perform in their careers and be care providers within the home. With 1 in 4 children in the U.S. residing in a home with just a single mother, the emotional, financial and psychological burden of raising children is solely placed on the shoulders of these mothers.

💡 So, what can we do?
- Single-mother households face a significant higher poverty rate than two-parent households. The average cost of child care in the U.S. can consume up to 20% or more of their income. Providing subsidized and free childcare on a federal level would dramatically improve the quality of life for working class mothers.

That is just one action we can advocate for, but do not underestimate the power of mutual aid and community care. The saying, "it takes a village," to raise children is true.
- Starting a carpool service with other single-mothers in your area is a step.
- Distributing wealth across a support system is another great action.
- One of the best things you can do to support single-mothers is to ask them what you can do to help them.

Together, we can close the wage gap working-mothers face, and provide tools and resources to help not only their children succeed, but themselves as well. 🌎🌱

But here’s the good news:

TAGPI IS SAFE.

He’s healthy, happy, and back home in the arms of his loving fur-dad, Mr. Manny Ros. 🙏

Mr. Ros shared that Tagpi was never abandoned. He knows how to swim and he was never left behind.

A reminder that some dogs are lucky to have humans who truly love and protect them.
