✨21 years ago, the Readability Center began with one simple mission: to make reading easier.

On this first day of our "adult life," we continue our mission to reach more Filipino children and help them realize reading successes, one sound, one word, one sentence, one story at a time.

To everyone who has been part of this journey, students, parents, teachers, and friends, we truly appreciate you for believing in our mission.

What’s your favorite Readability Center memory? Share it in the comments, we’d love to celebrate with you! 💙

Strategic during reading activities and comprehension questioning strengthen attention, deepen understanding, and cultivate a stronger general love for reading. When learners pause to respond and reflect while reading, they remain cognitively engaged, which supports sustained focus and active meaning making. Research shows that structured questioning during reading significantly improves comprehension outcomes by directing learners’ attention to key ideas and promoting strategic processing (Swanson et al., 2011). Integrating engagement practices with comprehension instruction has also been found to enhance both reading achievement and motivation (Guthrie et al., 2012). Purposeful during reading support therefore builds focus, strengthens comprehension, and nurtures positive reading habits.

Explicit modeling of correct letter strokes, followed by guided tracing and immediate feedback, strengthens alphabet knowledge through accurate letter formation. Systematic instruction in alphabet learning significantly improves early literacy outcomes (Piasta & Wagner, 2010), and early mastery of letters is a strong predictor of later reading achievement (National Early Literacy Panel, 2008).
