Readability Center Davao at the 52nd RAP National Demofest 2026📚💎

We are grateful to have participated in the 52nd RAP National Demofest 2026 at Ateneo De Davao University, organized by the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP).

This year's theme, “Teaching Across the Literacy Continuum: From Foundational Literacy to Multiliteracies,” strongly resonates with our mission at Readability Center Davao. As literacy educators, we recognize that reading development begins with strong foundational skills and grows into the ability to engage with diverse texts, languages, and modes of communication in today's world.

A special congratulations to Teacher Aimee, who served as a presenter during the event. Her demonstration lesson, based on Papa's House, Mama's House, showcased how meaningful children's literature can be used to develop comprehension, critical thinking, and interpretation of symbols and figurative representations while fostering empathy and understanding among learners.

Beyond the presentations, the Demofest provided valuable opportunities to collaborate with fellow literacy educators, exchange evidence-based practices, and strengthen our shared mission of advancing literacy education for Filipino children.

We thank RAP for creating a space where research, practice, and advocacy come together. We return inspired, equipped with new insights, and even more committed to helping every child build a strong literacy foundation while preparing them for the demands of an increasingly multiliterate world.

Public perception plays a major role in how education policies are understood and sustained.

In the case of Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-LE), study finds that implementation challenges were interpreted as evidence against the use mother tongue, even when these issues were not necessarily caused by the policy itself. Limited awareness of the cognitive benefits of L1 instruction also shaped how support for the policy developed.

Metila, an educator, also co-authored the study “Language of Instruction and Transition in Education Systems (LITES) Philippines,” which was presented at a PIDS webinar.

Alphabet letter features, categorized into tall, short, and falling (tail) letters, are foundational to early handwriting and literacy, often taught using visual, kinesthetic, and literature-based methods to help children recognize and form letters correctly on lines. Good job, love!❤️
