[๐๐ข๐ก๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐จ๐๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ก๐ฆ] Ms. Christine Varquez-Abines, MSc, Assistant Professor of the College of Applied Economics, has been named a recipient of the Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship Award to pursue a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Economics at National D**g Hwa University.
Her graduate studies began in September 2025 and will run until August 2028, providing an opportunity to further strengthen her academic expertise, research capacity, and global competencies in the field of economics.
This achievement reflects the University of Southeastern Philippines' continuing commitment to faculty development, academic excellence, and internationalization through advanced studies and global academic engagement.
The USeP community proudly congratulates Ms. Varquez-Abines on this milestone and wishes her success in her academic journey.

Dr. Roperto S. Deluna, Jr., project leader of both initiatives, received the awards on behalf of the teams.
Both findings of these studies serve as valuable guides for ensuring that interventions are innovative, effective in improving the welfare of Filipino farmers and industry stakeholders and aligned with the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The afternoon session of Day 2 of the LEAP Forum further deepened the dialogue on โEconomics of Innovation: Pathways for Inclusive Growth,โ as Applied Economics students engaged with pressing issues shaping todayโs development landscape.
Geol./EnP Marlon C. Suelto, MAURP, PhD student of the UPLB School of Environmental Science and Management, delivered a compelling discussion on โFrom Risk to Resilience: Innovative Approaches to Managing Environmental Vulnerabilities,โ emphasizing science-based strategies and community-driven planning in building resilient and adaptive environments.
This was followed by Atty. Karlo Martin C. Caramugan, LEAP Forum Adviser, Extension Head, EnP, and assistant professor at the USeP College of Applied Economics, who spoke on โThe Economistโs Role in Innovation and Development.โ His talk highlighted how economic thinking, policy design, and evidence-based analysis are vital in driving transformative and inclusive progress across sectors.
The event concluded on a meaningful note, leaving participants inspired and motivated to apply innovative approaches for inclusive growth.
