Day 1 of INSET at Labo National High School ๐โจ
A truly meaningful and productive day of learning, collaboration, and professional growth with our School Head, Maโam Grace L. Alvar, as we explored essential topics that strengthen our teaching practices.
Our first session, โMastering the Art of Crafting Contextualized Materials for Literacy and Numeracy Intervention,โ underscored the importance of creating learner-centered resources. Teachers produced Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) tailored to their respective subjects, serving as valuable outputs to support effective instruction.
The second session focused on Q.A.R. (Question and Answer Relationship), where we explored the four types of questions: Right There, Think and Search, Author and You, and On My Own. Using a short story provided by Maโam Grace, teachers practiced developing comprehension questions that foster deeper understanding and critical thinking.
Workshops for both sessions enabled teachers to immediately apply the concepts learned. In the Contextualized Materials session, participants collaborated in groups to design LAS that reflected real-life situations and learner needs, ensuring relevance and engagement. Meanwhile, in the Q.A.R. session, teachers actively crafted comprehension questions based on the short story, promoting critical thinking and meaningful learner interaction with texts.
The final session tackled the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), highlighting the importance of protecting personal information and promoting responsible data handling in government, private sectors, and most importantly, in educational institutions.
Teachers were reminded that safeguarding learner records, assessment results, and other sensitive school data is both a legal obligation and a moral responsibility-one that upholds trust between educators, students, and parents. The discussion emphasized the vital role of teachers in protecting information and maintaining integrity in todayโs digital era.
A day filled with new insights, shared ideas, and a continuous commitment to providing quality education for our learners.
