UPLB BTD Team goes to Davao✈️!

For the past month, the HBV e-Aptasense Project Team has been collaborating with the Center for Research and Development of Davao Medical Science Foundation Inc.

These snapshots highlight the joint efforts of both teams in advancing the use of aptamers for the electrochemical sensing and detection of Hepatitis B Virus.

This initiative is funded by the DOST Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

NATROSENSOR in Action!

In these frames are the collective efforts of the project’s research assistants, both in the laboratory and in the field—from hands-on sample collection to laboratory testing and validation.
Through these activities, the project aims to utilize hybrid nanomaterials for the electrochemical detection of antibiotic residues in water.
This project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).

The NATROSENSOR Project opens its doors to several thesis students from College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, UPLB.

In frames are the thesis students during their workshop training at PGC and during their experiment at the BTD Lab.

Over the past two years, the team has co-organized two events promoting the application of AI and ML in research, and application of aptamers in biosensor development.

Posting some highlights of the previous year. Our DOST-PCIEERD project has come to its end last October 2025.

The project "NATROSENSOR" applied hybrid nanomaterials for electrochemical detection of residual antibiotics in surface water.

To conduct research on biosensors with aptamers as recognition element, the researcher should be able to combine omics, chemistry, biology and engineering concepts.

A very flexible and versatile degree like Chemical Engineering, which can encompass these disciplines, combined with the person’s passion and enthusiasm to put an effort to climb up the steep learning curve are needed. These 2 girls showed all that when they discussed biosensor technology for detecting infectious pathogen, HBV, during their thesis outline defense held last saturday, Dec 14. Congratulations Eanda and Karla! Keep it up! Continue to amaze us with your very informative, clear and minimalist presentations in your final thesis defense next year! ❤️👩‍🔬👩‍🔬👏
