DAVAO CITY — Aspiring engineers and newly licensed professionals gathered today for a seminar on Engineering Ethics & Compassionate Leadership led by Dr. Allan Botuyan. Participants from various engineering schools in Davao, along with members of PICE and SEAD, attended the 3-hour session packed with insights from Dr. Botuyan’s decades of experience in the field.

Dr. Botuyan emphasized that true engineering is about character, integrity, and humility, not just technical skills. He reminded participants that ego and arrogance can disqualify even the most talented engineers, while diligence, honesty, and compassion build careers that last. He also encouraged everyone to view leadership as a continuous learning journey, to protect the integrity of their promises, and to “become a good virus” by spreading ethical practices in their communities.

The seminar served as both a reality check and an inspiration, highlighting that wherever one starts in the engineering world, it is ethics, perseverance, and a willingness to learn that ultimately define success.
