The waves crash gently against the rocks as sunlight peeks through thin curtainsโa quiet sign that summer has arrived. For many, it is a season of rest, a time to slow down and enjoy simple moments. Yet beyond the calm it brings, summer has also opened doors to new opportunities for others.
In the middle of this break, a different kind of opportunity emergesโone that is not just about watching the sunrise, but about becoming one. It is about stepping forward, taking part, and making a difference.
Living out this idea, the campus journalists of Lorenzo Latawan National High School, known as the Lorenzo Latawan Writers Indigenous Network (LLAWIN), have been sharing their skills and talents. They spend their days writing inspiring stories, reporting truthful news, and capturing meaningful moments during the 66th Araw ng Barangay Pandaitan. While others turn in early, they remain awake, driven by purpose and dedication.
Through these experiences, the members of LLAWIN have not only improved their skills but have also discovered the deeper meaning of their work. One of the media team members shares his personal experience during the event. โThe whole experience is hard, but meaningful,โ says John Lloyd Abajero, LLAWINโs photojournalist.
Because of this dedication, LLAWIN continues to soar like an eagle. Behind every write-up posted on social media and every reaction it gains is the result of hard work, passion, and commitment to their craft.
Supporting their journey is the Sanggunian ng Kabataan of Barangay Pandaitan, led by SK Chairperson Jonel G. Brigole. Through their guidance and trust, the young journalists have been given the opportunity to grow, build confidence, and bring out their best. True to its vision, the organization continues to uplift the youth and enhance their talents and capabilities.
In line with this, SK Chairperson Jonel Brigole emphasizes that participation and volunteerism play a vital role not only in strengthening the community but also in shaping the youth themselves.
Amid the raging sea, as the waves rise high, LLAWIN continues to stand strong. Like a shell that has been broken open, they have stepped out of their comfort zones with courageโready to face new opportunities and embrace what lies ahead.

With shovels breaking ground and cheers echoing across the campus, a groundbreaking ceremony is held at Lorenzo Latawan National High School on April 14, 2026, marking the official start of the construction of the schoolโs new gym.
A spirit of progress and unity filled the grounds of Lorenzo Latawan National High School as faculty and staff headed by the schoolโs Principal - Mrs. Nimfa R. Salan, students, baranggay officials, members of the tribal council, and other community members gather for the groundbreaking ceremony of the schoolโs much-anticipated schoolโs gymnasium.
The event signals not only the start of construction but also a significant milestone in the schoolโs commitment to providing better facilities for its learners. The future gym is expected to serve as a hub for sports, cultural activities, and community gatherings, fostering both physical development and school pride.
The highlight of the ceremony is the solemn ex*****on of ritual rites led by Datu Manuel Banatao Sr., Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR). The traditional blessing adds a deeper cultural and spiritual meaning to the occasion, symbolizing hope, protection, and prosperity for the project. Attendees observe with reverence as the ritual honors local heritage and invoked guidance for the successful completion of the gym.
School officials also express their gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to making the project possible, emphasizing that the new facility will greatly enhance student life and opportunities.
As the first shovel broke the ground, it marks more than just the beginning of construction, but it also represents a shared vision for growth, unity, and a brighter future for Lorenzo Latawan National High School.

In her speech, she emphasized that leadership is not about titles, but about influence by doing what is right and earning trust, even when no one is watching.
She added that competence alone is not enough; it must be grounded in strong character. Only when skills are guided by honesty, perseverance, and compassion can leadership truly inspire others and create meaningful, lasting change.
Hats off Batch 2025โ2026 for your hard work and dedication. May you carry these words with you as you step into the next chapter; chasing your goals with purpose, staying true to your values, and becoming the kind of leaders who inspire others along the way.
