24TH PHILIPPINE-JAPAN FESTIVAL | KICK-OFF PROGRAM

Oisa! Oisa! Oisa! 🎏🎋

PNJK-IS officially launched the 24th Philippine-Japan Festival through a vibrant and meaningful Kick-Off Program held on September 23, 2026, at the PNJK-IS Gymnasium.

Anchored on the theme, “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities,” the celebration highlighted the enduring friendship, cultural understanding, and strong people-to-people ties between the Philippines and Japan.

The program was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests who shared their messages, greetings, and insights on the continuing partnership between the two nations:

As part of the celebration of the 24th Philippine-Japan Festival with the theme, “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities,” PNJK-IS conducted a series of Academic Competitions designed to develop and showcase the knowledge, creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills of our Nikkeisians.

PNJK-IS commenced the celebration of the 24th Philippine-Japan Festival with a Thanksgiving Mass held on September 21, 2026, at 9:00 AM.

The celebration offered an opportunity for the PNJK-IS community to come together in gratitude, prayer, and reflection as we honor the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Japan. It also set the spirit for this year’s festival theme, “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities.”

PUBLIC LECTURE SERIES | 24th PHILIPPINE-JAPAN FESTIVAL 🇵🇭🇯🇵

In celebration of the 24th Philippine-Japan Festival, the PNJK-IS and MKD conducted a Public Lecture Series on September 21, 2026, at the PNJK-IS Gymnasium, carrying the festival theme, “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities.”

The academic activity featured two distinguished speakers: Honorable Consul General Hirotaka Ono of the Consulate General of Japan in Davao and Dr. Anderson V. Villa, President of the Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES) – Mindanao Chapter.

The lectures focused on significant aspects of Philippine-Japan relations, the history of Philippine-Japan friendship, and the continuing development of bilateral ties through education, cultural exchange, and people-to-people relations. The discussions provided the students and members of the school community with a broader understanding of the historical foundations and contemporary significance of the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Japan.

The program was formally welcomed by the school President Dr. Ines P. Mallari, who underscored the importance of academic engagement, cultural understanding, and meaningful dialogue in strengthening international friendship and cooperation.

A substantive Open Forum and Question-and-Answer Session followed the lectures, providing the audience with an opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, seek clarification, and share perspectives on the topics presented. The interactive exchange further enriched the learning experience and encouraged students to participate actively in discussions concerning Philippine-Japan relations.

The Public Lecture Series stands as a meaningful component of the 24th Philippine-Japan Festival, advancing PNJK-IS’s commitment to providing students with opportunities for academic enrichment, intercultural learning, and a deeper appreciation of the historical and contemporary ties between the Philippines and Japan.

In celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day and as part of our VMGO, “To demonstrate love and care for the environment,” our school community came together for a meaningful coastal clean-up activity.

Here are some highlights from today’s clean-up conducted along the coastal area of Waterfront Insular Hotel, Lanang. 🏝️🌊

A big thank you, Sensei-gatta and dear students, for your full cooperation and active participation! We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the accommodating staff of Waterfront Insular Hotel for their assistance, support, and, of course, the free snacks!

A Memorable Visit from the Chindonya Performers! 🎶🇵🇭🇯🇵

On September 17, 2026, our school was filled with lively music, colorful performances, and Japanese cultural charm as we welcomed the Chindonya performers to our campus.

Chindonya is a traditional form of Japanese street entertainment that combines music, performance, and advertising. Chindonya performers are known for their colorful costumes, lively instruments, and energetic performances that bring people together and capture attention.

Their visit gave the Nikkeisians a wonderful opportunity to experience a unique part of Japanese traditional culture while enjoying an entertaining and meaningful cultural exchange.

As part of the activities for the 24th Philippine-Japan Festival, the Nihongo Department and Araling Panlipunan Cluster conducted the In-Campus Lecture Series on September 10, 14, and 17.

The lectures provided our students with meaningful insights into the rich history, culture, traditions, and enduring friendship between the Philippines and Japan. Through these learning sessions, our students gained a deeper appreciation of the strong connections that have been built between the two countries and the importance of fostering mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation among future generations. 🇵🇭🤝🇯🇵

As part of the line-up of activities for the upcoming 24th Philippine-Japan Festival, our students showcased their creativity, insights, and artistic talents through the Essay Writing and Poster Making Contests held on September 11, 2026.

Guided by this year’s theme, “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities,” participants expressed their ideas and visions for a future strengthened by friendship, understanding, and cooperation between the Philippines and Japan.
