As the academic year approached its conclusion, the School of Management Student Council successfully conducted its sixth to eighth Town Hall Meetings, continuing its commitment to transparency, collaboration, and active student engagement.

The 6th Town Hall Meeting centered on addressing the grievances of the student body, providing a platform for concerns to be raised and heard. Alongside this, important reminders and updates regarding HUDYAKA 2026 were discussed to ensure alignment and preparedness among students.

During the 7th Town Hall Meeting, discussions centered on DULA matters alongside the usual year level disposition checks and financial updates. The body addressed coordination efforts and ongoing preparations, ensuring that responsibilities and timelines were aligned across committees.

The 8th and final Town Hall Meeting highlighted the Thesis Orientation for all year levels. Alongside the Financial Report and Other Matters, this meeting served as a space to discuss the upcoming SGASC 61st x KSUP 47th matters and collective alignment as the academic year came to a close.

More than just updates, these meetings became important spaces for collaboration, accountability, and student representation.

As this marks the final Town Hall of the academic year, the SOM Student Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to all students who participated, voiced their concerns, and contributed to strengthening the SOM community.

The red-tagging of Radyo Iskolar by the Red Watch Community is not an isolated attack, it is part of a systematic campaign to criminalize dissent, silence critical thought, and delegitimize academic institutions. This is political persecution, plain and simple.

Radyo Iskolar is a legitimate academic platform under the BA Communication and Media Arts Program, rooted in formal pedagogy, supervised by faculty, and built on years of responsible media practice. It exists to train students in critical inquiry, ethical journalism, and socially engaged communication. To maliciously brand it as a recruitment arm is a fabricated accusation designed to justify harassment and repression.

Let us be clear. Red-tagging is a weapon. It has long been used to mark individuals and organizations as targets, exposing them to threats, intimidation, state scrutiny, and even state induced violence. When student media platforms are attacked, what is being targeted is not just an organization, but the right to think critically, to speak freely, to inquire freely, and to organize without fear.

This is how authoritarian tendencies operate, not only through force, but through fear-mongering and normalization of suspicion against progressive civic and academic engagement. The attack on Radyo Iskolar reveals a dangerous logic, that education, when critical and socially aware, is treated as a threat rather than a right. We refuse to accept this!
We refuse to allow disinformation networks like Red Watch Community to endanger students and educators with impunity. We refuse the normalization of red-tagging as a political tool.

Accountability must go beyond condemnation. It requires the immediate removal of all defamatory content and public retraction mechanisms to hold those responsible liable for the harm they have caused. It demands the active defense of academic freedom and press freedom.

Silence is a complicity of repression and neutrality enables these oppressive mechanisms.
