The activity begins with the sounding of the alarm, signaling the start of the drill. Learners, guided by their teachers, immediately perform the standard โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ procedure inside their classrooms. After the simulated earthquake, participants proceeded calmly and orderly to the designated evacuation area.
The drill aimed to teach learners the appropriate actions to take before, during, and after an earthquake. Special attention was given to learners with special educational needs to ensure that emergency procedures are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to their individual requirements.
School administrators, teachers, and support staff actively monitored the activity to assess the effectiveness of the schoolโs emergency response plan. The successful conduct of the drill demonstrated the readiness and cooperation of the entire school community in promoting a culture of safety and disaster resilience.

Led by Engr. Allan Matling with Engrs. Haron Samrudin, Edwin Belleza, and Rafhsan Lintangi, the team assessed the school in coordination with Principal Mary Germaine V. Alberto and DRRM focal persons Lucila S. Callanta, William R. Bernales, Carlos C. Suarez Jr., Edgar B. Ducusin, and Annabelle E. Bayaton. No major damage or safety concerns were found.
Engr. Matling confirmed the buildings are safe for occupancy. Principal Alberto thanked the team and said the finding gives the school community confidence as classes resume on June 10, 2026.
The inspection reflects the cityโs ongoing commitment to disaster preparedness and safe learning environments.

The inspection was facilitated through the initiative of Engr. Bobby Mamaril, Chief of the Construction Division of the DPWH District 1 Engineering Office, with the approval of Lilibeth M. Sarmiento, Officer-in-Charge District Engineer of the DPWH Davao City 3rd District Engineering Office.
The activity was led by Engr. Shikina Adarna and attended by Mary Germaine V. Alberto, Principal II of Buhangin Central Elementary School, together with School Governance Council Designated Chairman, Marcelino Abuyo and School Governance Head Carlos C. Suarez Jr.
The initiative focused on assessing the condition and functionality of the schoolโs drainage system as part of the ongoing preparations for the opening of classes under Brigada Eskwela 2026.
