𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗢 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 – 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 — Buhangin Central Elementary School SpEd Center successfully conducts an earthquake drill at exactly 9:00 a.m. on June 18, 2026, as part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of its learners, teachers, and staff during emergencies.

The activity begins with the sounding of the alarm, signaling the start of the drill. Learners, guided by their teachers, immediately perform the standard “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure inside their classrooms. After the simulated earthquake, participants proceeded calmly and orderly to the designated evacuation area.

The drill aimed to teach learners the appropriate actions to take before, during, and after an earthquake. Special attention was given to learners with special educational needs to ensure that emergency procedures are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to their individual requirements.

School administrators, teachers, and support staff actively monitored the activity to assess the effectiveness of the school’s emergency response plan. The successful conduct of the drill demonstrated the readiness and cooperation of the entire school community in promoting a culture of safety and disaster resilience.

Through activities like this, the BCES SpEd Center continues to strengthen disaster preparedness awareness and uphold its commitment to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all learners.

𝐃𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐎 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The City Engineer’s Office clears Buhangin Central Elementary School SpEd Center as safe and structurally sound after a post‑earthquake inspection.

Led by Engr. Allan Matling with Engrs. Haron Samrudin, Edwin Belleza, and Rafhsan Lintangi, the team assessed the school in coordination with Principal Mary Germaine V. Alberto and DRRM focal persons Lucila S. Callanta, William R. Bernales, Carlos C. Suarez Jr., Edgar B. Ducusin, and Annabelle E. Bayaton. No major damage or safety concerns were found.

Engr. Matling confirmed the buildings are safe for occupancy. Principal Alberto thanked the team and said the finding gives the school community confidence as classes resume on June 10, 2026.

The inspection reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to disaster preparedness and safe learning environments.

In anticipation of possible aftershocks and pending the completion of ongoing structural assessments, government offices in Davao City, including local government offices and national government agencies, shall adopt a work-from-home arrangement tomorrow, June 9, 2026, EXCEPT for offices providing safety and security, health, sanitation, traffic management, social services, and disaster and emergency response services.

The private sector is encouraged to adopt similar arrangements to ensure the welfare and safety of their employees.

Face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions shall remain suspended tomorrow, June 9, 2026, pending the completion of safety inspections.

Educational institutions are encouraged to adopt online or distance learning modalities to ensure the welfare and safety of their students and personnel.

The Buhangin Central Elementary School (BCES) Special Education (SpEd) Center successfully wraps up its week-long Brigada Eskwela 2026 from June 1 to 5, 2026, showcasing the spirit of volunteerism, collaboration, and community partnership in preparation for the opening of School Year 2026–2027.

For five days, teachers, parents, stakeholders, and community partners worked hand in hand to improve school facilities and create a safe, clean, and learner-friendly environment for all learners, particularly children with special educational needs. Volunteers actively participated in classroom cleaning, minor repairs, beautification projects, gardening activities, and the preparation of learning spaces, reflecting a collective commitment to quality and inclusive education.

The culmination of Brigada Eskwela on June 5 was highlighted by a Parents’ Orientation held at the BCES Gymnasium, attended by parents and guardians of SpEd learners. The orientation served as an avenue to discuss important school policies, programs, learner support mechanisms, and expectations for the upcoming school year. It also strengthened the partnership between the school and families, emphasizing the vital role of parents in their children's educational development and success.

The BCES SpEd Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to all donors, stakeholders, community partners, and volunteers whose generosity and dedication contributed to the success of Brigada Eskwela 2026. Their donations of materials, resources, services, and time greatly helped prepare the school for the opening of classes.

Special recognition is likewise given to the parents and guardians who actively participated in both the Brigada Eskwela activities and the Parents’ Orientation. Their unwavering support and commitment exemplify the importance of home-school collaboration in achieving meaningful educational outcomes for learners.

As the school community prepares for another academic year, the successful conduct of Brigada Eskwela and the Parents’ Orientation underscores the shared commitment of educators, families, and stakeholders in creating a nurturing, inclusive, and empowering environment for every learner.

Held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the BESSC Covered Court, the meeting serves as a vital platform for discussing major school concerns, finalizing teaching assignments, and ensuring that all programs and activities are fully prepared before classes officially begin.

One of the key highlights of the gathering is the orientation on the Three-Term Academic Program presented by Mary Germaine Alberto, which provides teachers with updated guidelines and expectations for the new school year framework.
The meeting also focuses on preparations for Brigada Eskwela, including the designation of committee assignments to ensure the successful implementation of school clean-up and maintenance activities. Discussions on Oplan Balik Eskwela and enrollment procedures are likewise conducted to streamline processes and improve services for students and parents.

In addition, section and advisory class assignments are finalized, while teachers are reminded about the submission and checking of class programs to guarantee organized and efficient classroom management.

School officials emphasize the importance of collaboration and proactive planning as the institution gears up for another productive academic year. With teamwork and dedication at the center of the preparations, BCESSC educators prove that they are truly ready to “hawak ang beat” in guiding learners toward success this School Year 2026–2027.

𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conducts inspection of the drainage system at Buhangin Central Elementary School SpEd Center as part of its preparation and partnership efforts for Brigada Eskwela 2026.

The inspection was facilitated through the initiative of Engr. Bobby Mamaril, Chief of the Construction Division of the DPWH District 1 Engineering Office, with the approval of Lilibeth M. Sarmiento, Officer-in-Charge District Engineer of the DPWH Davao City 3rd District Engineering Office.

The activity was led by Engr. Shikina Adarna and attended by Mary Germaine V. Alberto, Principal II of Buhangin Central Elementary School, together with School Governance Council Designated Chairman, Marcelino Abuyo and School Governance Head Carlos C. Suarez Jr.

The initiative focused on assessing the condition and functionality of the school’s drainage system as part of the ongoing preparations for the opening of classes under Brigada Eskwela 2026. Through this collaborative effort, the DPWH continues to support public schools by promoting safer, cleaner, and more conducive learning environments for students and school personnel.

Mary Germaine V. Alberto expressed her gratitude to the DPWH for its continued support and partnership with the school community. She emphasized that the inspection and improvement of the drainage system play a vital role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and preparedness of the school for the incoming school year.

The school administration also called on parents, community members, stakeholders, and volunteers to actively participate in Brigada Eskwela 2026 by supporting school improvement activities and helping create a safe, clean, and learner-friendly environment for all students as classes approach.
