Her presentation showcased the project's progress in strengthening antimicrobial resistance surveillance in Mindanao. It provided a platform for engaging with international experts, fostering collaborations, and exchanging knowledge on the latest developments in public health genomics.

From a competitive pool of applicants, 𝟖 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 have been selected to join this year's 8-week immersive internship at the PGC Mindanao.

Over the next two months, our interns will gain hands-on experience in genomics, bioinformatics, biodiversity research, and microbial genomics while working alongside researchers and scientists at PGC Mindanao.

This internship is a learning opportunity to explore real-world scientific discovery, develop research skills, and contribute to advancing genomics in the Philippines.

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Delegates from South Cotabato State College (SCSC) participated in the Molecular Biology Camp held from May 18 to 22, 2026, at the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao, University of the Philippines Mindanao Campus.
The camp aimed to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in molecular biology, DNA extraction, DNA barcoding, DNA purification, next-generation sequencing technologies, and related laboratory techniques.

The activity was conducted with support from DOST-PCIEERD under Project No. 1213539, highlighting the government’s commitment to advancing scientific capacity and innovation in the country.

We are proud to share that researchers and faculty from Central Mindanao University, Mindanao State University – General Santos, DepEd Philippines, and Mindanao State University - Naawan successfully completed the "𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐱 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞" held on May 25-26, 2026.

Our amazing participants spent two days leveling up their skills in:

- 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬 to better understand biological data structures.
- 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐱 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to be equipped on handling sequence data from the terminal
