To Be A Writer
by Cali Gonzales
To be a writer takes courage
To be able to write down your thoughts,
And read it for the world to see,
That can get scary.
There will be people
Who doubt your words,
People who will disagree.
But there is power
In the words you write.
There is power
In the little piece of your heart,
In that little piece of paper.
There is beauty
To the rhyme,
To the process,
And the time.
So, no.
I do not want something written by AI,
I want something
That's truly mine.

As someone who has joined the Write Way time and time again, I can see how I have grown as both a poet and a person. As someone who has been participating since 2018, I can see how this workshop has refined my perspective on life and my dreams.
It is always lovely to see both new and old faces. It is an honour to watch curious and new poets share their pieces, and listen in awe to returning poets share their works. Itβs a blessing to be a part of the audience and the class to watch other students grow in both confidence and skill.
The moment you learn how to share whatβs already there is when you can then step outside and show who you are.
The Write Way has greatly helped me see myself. It makes me ask the type of questions that require soul searching.
My experiences in this workshop have shaped what I want to share in this world.
In the limited amount of time I have been gifted to roam this earth, this workshop has taught me how to appreciate everything that is already there.
