Through team challenges, shared learning, fellowship, reflection, and collaborative planning, participants will strengthen their leadership skills, build connections across chapters, and contribute to the continued growth of the YMCA youth movement in Mindanao.

YMCA of Davao Inc. and Brokenshire College Inc. Strengthen Partnership

The YMCA of Davao, Inc. and Brokenshire College Inc. โ€“ Community Extension and Services strengthened their commitment to community development through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

The signing was led by Brokenshire College President Bishop Hamuel Tequis and YMCA of Davao President Engr. Mariano Alquiza, marking a shared commitment to youth development, education, and community service.

Also present was Wireless Elementary School of Davao City, represented by Principal Anthony Batocael, for the signing of the PROJECT GABAY partnership between Brokenshire College Inc. Community Extension and Services, which aims to provide educational guidance and support to the youth.

The partnership highlights the organizationsโ€™ shared mission of empowering young people and building stronger communities through education, service, and collaboration.

BUILDING AN ILLEGAL DRUG-FREE COMMUNITY

The YMCA of Davao was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation during the 24th Founding Anniversary and Awarding Ceremony of PDEA Regional Office XI, held on August 6, 2026, at Heroben Hometel, Tagum City.

Anchored on the theme โ€œPinalakas na Kampanya Laban sa Ilegal na Droga, Tungo sa Ligtas na Bagong Pilipinas,โ€ the event highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in promoting peace, safety, and a illegal drug-free community.

The recognition acknowledges YMCA of Davaoโ€™s continued dedication and valuable support to PDEAโ€™s anti illegal drug campaigns and initiatives toward building safer and healthier communities in Region XI.

The YMCA of Davao Special Corporate Meeting held last August 1, 2026 at the newly-renovated YMCA Multi-purpose Hall went well. The activity gathered old and new corporate members with the Board of Directors headed by Pres. Mariano Alquiza.
Core matters were deliberated upon - governance, progress, and future direction. The impetus was clear which brought about a proactive participation to the end. Questions were clearly answered and new ideas were considered.

YMCA of Davao family also welcomed two passionate "youth-oriented" gentleman as Life Corporate members: Engr. Richard Amparo, Asst. Regional Director of TESDA XI and Engr. Lemuel Julapong, founder of I-Train, a TESDA accredited skills training center in Panabo.

Our special thanks to those who shared their time, talent and treasure to make the event worthy and valuable.

YMCA of Davao Participates as PDEA CSO Partner in Anti-Illegal Drug Prevention Symposium

The Symposium was spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Preventive Education on Anti-Illegal Drugs in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The symposium was held at Doรฑa Carmen National High School in Toril, Davao City, focuses on educating the students on the dangers of illegal drugs and the importance of responsible decision-making. Discussions covered the salient provisions of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 (RA 9344), led by resource speakers from PDEA and the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD).

Michael C. Corong, 2nd Vice President of the YMCA of Davao , presented the organization's advocacy, "The YMCA Way: Empowering Youth to Live Illegal Drug-Free, Lead with Character, and Build Strong Communities," encouraging students to become responsible leaders and advocates for a drug-free community.

The activity is proof of strong partnership among DILG, PDEA, WCPD, and YMCA of Davao in promoting preventive education anti-illegal drug and empowering youth to build safer, healthier, and drug-free communities.

PRAISE GOD!
As an initial humanitarian response, YMCA of Davao, Inc. has delivered donated 80 packs of 5-kilogram rice and water for earthquake-affected families in Glan, Sarangani Province.

The donations, generously provided by private individuals and local businesses, and Alpha Ventures, were delivered through Saint Charles Borromeo Parish on June 16, 2026.

YMCA of Davao thanks all donors for their kindness and support. This is only the initial phase of our relief efforts as we continue to assess and respond to the needs of affected communities.

Piedad, during the Destruction of Dangerous Drugs and Paraphernalia conducted by PDEA Regional Office XI in Metropolitan Davao.

The activity highlights the government's commitment to transparency and its continuing campaign against illegal drugs. Through its participation, YMCA of Davao reaffirms its support for a drug-free community and programs that promote the welfare of the youth and the public.
