UM Biology participants stepped into Day 2 of the ADBM Biolympics 2026 on April 19, taking on their respective events with energy and confidence. From the courts to the stage, they proved that they are not just biology students, but individuals who can also excel in both sports and academic competitions. Balls and shuttlecocks filled the air, while pens moved quickly and voices echoed through the venue each moment carrying its own weight of effort and determination.

More than just a series of events, the day became a reflection of discipline, teamwork, and the kind of spirit that shows itself in both victory and defeat. In every match played and every performance given, they carried themselves with pride and represented UM with heart.

ADBM Biolympics 2026: UM Day 1 Highlights 🌱✨

On April 12, University of Mindanao (UM) Biology students headed to the University of the Philippines Mindanao for Day 1 of the ADBM Biolympics 2026, stepping into a day filled with both excitement and anticipation. There were competitions to face, certainly, but also fleeting scenes of laughter, easy conversations with fellow biology students from different schools, all blending into an experience that felt both grounding and alive.

Beyond the activities, the day became more than just participation. It was about building connections, representing UM with pride, and showing up for one another throughout the events. More than the outcomes or achievements, it was the growth and the memories formed along the way that defined the experience as one community.🤗💚

AQUATIC ECOLOGY | 3rd Year- Biodiversity Assessment at Passig Islet, Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur🌊

Last March 27, 2026, third-year Biology students embarked on a meaningful journey to Passig Islet, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, for a hands-on biodiversity assessment as part of our Aquatic Ecology course. Guided and led by our professor, Edgar B. Retorta, we immersed ourselves in the rich and thriving life beneath the waters and along the shores.

From the careful collection and identification of fish to observing diverse aquatic organisms such as crustaceans, mollusks, algae, and echinoderms, the experience deepened our understanding of marine ecosystems beyond the classroom. Each sample, each observation, and each step along the shoreline reminded us of the vast interconnectedness of life in these coastal habitats.

Beyond the scientific learning, the day was filled with laughter, shared stories, and unforgettable moments. The long trip turned into a space for connection—strengthening friendships, building teamwork, and creating memories through simple recreational activities during our free time.

This field assessment was not just a requirement—it was a celebration of learning, discovery, and unity among passionate biology students. Truly, it was a fulfilling experience that allowed us to witness, appreciate, and advocate for the beauty and importance of biodiversity beyond Davao City.

⚠️ Disclaimer: All organisms collected during the assessment were handled with utmost care, properly documented, and safely returned to their natural habitat. No animals or organisms were harmed throughout the entire activity.
