𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐒 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞

Regulations on dress code and grooming are established to promote discipline, proper decorum, and a conducive learning environment while encouraging students to present themselves with modesty, professionalism, and respect.

However, the recently released dress code and grooming policy by the 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 has raised concerns among students, particularly regarding the prohibition of certain clothing items that were 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.

While we fully support the institution's commitment to maintaining appropriate standards within the academic community, we also recognize that some of the newly prohibited clothing options have long served as 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 for students without compromising modesty, professionalism, or respectability. For many, these garments have been a reasonable means of navigating academic life, and their restriction may unintentionally create challenges that affect students' comfort and overall well-being.

As an organization committed to 𝘶𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘦, we respectfully call upon the 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 to revisit these policy changes and engage in meaningful dialogue with the student body. We believe that policies are most effective when 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲.
