Beyond Distance, Beyond Limits

Baracayo Integrated School, situated in a far-flung area and the farthest school under Cluster 4, is proud and grateful to be selected as one of the schools in the Division of Davao City chosen to implement Khan Academy Philippines . The program was officially launched in our school on September 17, 2026, under the supervision of our School Head, Ma’am Marivic Aguilar Obatonon , with the guidance and support of our dedicated and competent teachers Ma’am Angel C. Mapanao, Sir Jhonril A. Granaderos, Hazel S. Manitas and Ma’am Divine Grace G. Arobo as our documenter, for capturing this meaningful school milestone.

Khan Academy provides online educational resources aligned with the Revised K to 12 Curriculum, giving learners opportunities to explore lessons, practice skills, and learn at their own pace. Its interactive and engaging activities make learning more enjoyable while allowing learners to work according to their own level and pacing.

The platform also supports the continuous and effective integration of digital learning tools in Mathematics, Science, and English, providing learners with additional opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills in these key learning areas.

One of the features we find helpful is that when a learner gets an incorrect answer, he or she can review the steps and solution instead of simply moving on to the next item. This allows learners to understand where they went wrong, try again, and learn from their mistakes.

For this school year, both the Elementary and Junior High School Departments are included in the implementation. We are piloting the program with 68 learners from Grades 9 and 10. After the pilot phase, we look forward to expanding the program to cover all grade levels, giving more of our learners the opportunity to benefit from these digital learning resources.

As we continue using the platform, we hope that the consistent practice, independent learning, and increased engagement will contribute to improved learning outcomes among our learners, including their preparation for assessments such as the National Achievement Test (NAT) and participation in international assessments such as PISA.

This initiative strengthens our commitment to our school mantra, “Promoting Excellence and Transforming Lives.” Through the dedication of our teachers and the active participation of our learners, we continue to create opportunities that make learning more accessible, engaging, and meaningful in these digital world.

Stronger partnerships, brighter opportunities for learners.
Our School Head, Ma'am Marivic Aguilar Obatonon , recently represented Baracayo Integrated School during the Ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for the Tulong Aral Project for School Year 2026–2027.
Through this partnership between the Davao City Water District (DCWD) and the DepEd Schools Division of Davao City, BIS is blessed to be one of the 19 partner schools.
This program will give educational assistance to our qualified students. At the same time, it helps our community and families work together in taking care of Davao City's watershed areas.

Baracayo Integrated School successfully conducted its 2nd SPTA General Assembly on September 11, 2026. The program began with a warm welcome from Ma'am Shirley W. Coquilla during her opening remarks, setting a positive tone for the day. Following this, School Head Marivic Aguilar Obatonon presented the school’s recent accomplishments, showing the community how much the school has grown with the school mantra Promoting Excellence, Transforming lives .

The event was well-attended by supportive parents and guardians, alongside our active leaders, including PTA President Rustom Nunal and SGC elected Chairperson Teddy Verano.

To ensure transparency, PTA Treasurer Rejean P. Sayloon presented the PTA Fund financial report to the parents.
Following this, the main agenda was introduced by SGC designated Chairperson Ma'am Geraldine Siarot, who presented the proposed Centralized School Paging System.

This project is a crucial safety upgrade required by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) guidelines to ensure fast, clear announcements during emergencies.Immediately after the general assembly, parents and guardians proceeded to their respective classrooms for the distribution of the 1st term school report cards.

The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their valuable time, their continued partnership, and for officially approving the new paging system project for the welfare and safety of our learners!

A productive and meaningful Day 1 of the School-Based In-Service Training (INSET) at Baracayo Integrated School as teachers actively engaged in discussions, sharing, and reflection for continuous professional growth.

The session was led by our School Head, Ma’am Marivic Aguilar Obatonon , with the following topics discussed: DO 6, s. 2024, DO 15, s. 2026, and revisiting of the School Handbook and its policies. The session provided an opportunity for everyone to refresh their knowledge, clarify concerns, and strengthen our shared commitment to proper policies and responsible practice.

Congratulations to our very own Alexandre Podunas for winning 1st Place (Gold Medal) in the Athletic Triple Jump Event during the Unit Meet 2026 Elementary Level! He is now officially a DCAA Qualifier.Thank you to his coach, Sir Rommel T. Villalongja, and to our active school head, Ma'am Marivic Aguilar Obatonon , for their guidance and support.
