The 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼) continued its 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗥&𝗗) 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 on June 30, 2026, at the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗣𝗘𝗙), 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, where participants explored the vital roles of 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 through firsthand learning experiences.

The immersion began with an orientation on the history, mission, and conservation initiatives of the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, highlighting its pioneering efforts in the conservation and successful captive breeding of the critically endangered 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲. Participants also learned about the eagle's biology, behavior, and ecological significance, recognizing it as an 𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 whose protection contributes to the preservation of entire forest ecosystems.

Students were then guided through the Foundation's conservation area, situated within the 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗼, where they encountered rescued and rehabilitated wildlife while gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of protecting habitats and conserving biodiversity.

The afternoon session focused on the causes and impacts of 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀, emphasizing the role of environmental education and community action in forest conservation. Participants also learned proper 𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀, reinforcing the importance of responsible tree planting in restoring ecosystems and promoting environmental sustainability.

The second day of the 𝗥&𝗗 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 strengthened the participants' understanding that protecting wildlife means protecting the ecosystems they depend on. Through experiential learning and meaningful engagement with conservation experts, the 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼) continues to inspire future scientists and environmental stewards committed to conserving the country's rich natural heritage.

The 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼) officially commenced its 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗥&𝗗) 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆on June 29, 2026, at the 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗰. (𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗟𝗖𝗙𝗜) 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗴𝘆. 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘀𝗸𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻, 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻, 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿. Centered on the Livestock sector under the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector, the immersion introduced participants to research-based livestock production, sustainable farming practices, and innovative agricultural technologies.

The day began with an orientation on the history, mission, and programs of 𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗟𝗖𝗙𝗜, providing participants with an overview of the institution's contributions to livestock research and sustainable agriculture. Students then explored the livestock production area, where they learned about 𝗵𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, proper nutrition and feeding management, forage cultivation, quality assurance, and biosecurity practices. Participants also gained hands-on experience in 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 while observing practical livestock health management techniques, including dehorning procedures and proper medication administration.

The immersion concluded with a visit to the 𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗟𝗖𝗙𝗜 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿, where participants learned about vermicomposting and the role of the Night Crawler (𝘌𝘶𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘶𝘴 𝘦𝘶𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘦) in producing organic fertilizer and promoting sustainable waste management.

The first day of the R&D Immersion successfully bridged classroom learning with real-world agricultural applications, strengthening participants' appreciation for livestock innovation, sustainability, and the role of science and technology in advancing the 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿.

The DOST-PCAARRD Youth Science Program in the Regions (Mindanao) successfully concluded the first week of its Community of Elders (COELs) Mentorship Sessions on June 26, 2026, at the CAEc EBP Hall, through a series of collaborative and interactive activities that challenged participants to transform innovative ideas into meaningful research concepts and entrepreneurial opportunities.

To establish a baseline and assess the participants' initial understanding of their respective sectors, the day began with a post-test, allowing participants to evaluate their existing knowledge before diving into the mentorship sessions. Following this, the morning session focused on Topic Selection and Brainstorming. This led into the first consultation, where participants worked closely with their mentors to refine their initial research concepts and identify relevant issues within the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector.This consultation was facilitated by Dr. Della Grace G. Bacaltos, Dr. Irvin C. Generalao, and Dr. Purisima G. Bayacag, who provided valuable guidance, constructive feedback, and expert insights to help students strengthen the direction and feasibility of their proposed research ideas.

The afternoon session featured Dr. Karl P. Campos, Resource Person for Youth Entrepreneurship in AANR, who conducted an engaging Elevator Pitch Lecture. The activity equipped participants with practical communication and presentation skills, emphasizing the importance of delivering research ideas with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Through the lecture, students learned how to effectively communicate innovative concepts, capture their audience's interest, and articulate the potential impact of their proposed solutions.

As the first week of the COELs Mentorship Sessions comes to a close, the DOST-PCAARRD Youth Science Program in the Regions (Mindanao) continues to empower young innovators by cultivating research excellence, entrepreneurial thinking, and collaborative leadership. Through expert mentorship and
experiential learning, the program remains committed to developing future scientists, researchers, and changemakers who will contribute to sustainable development and innovation in the AANR sector and beyond.

The 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼) continued its 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 through the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗖𝗢𝗘𝗟𝘀) 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 held on 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗔𝗘𝗰 𝗘𝗕𝗣 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹, providing student participants with another meaningful opportunity to learn from experts and deepen their understanding of science, innovation, and professional development within the 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥) 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿.

The fourth day of the mentorship session highlighted the importance of knowledge application, entrepreneurship, and leadership in shaping future professionals who can contribute to sustainable development and innovation in the AANR sector.

The morning session featured 𝗗𝗿. 𝗟𝗲𝗮 𝗔. 𝗝𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘇, mentor for Aquaculture, who delivered an insightful lecture on 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. The discussion provided participants with valuable perspectives on aquatic resource management, sustainable aquaculture practices, and the role of science and technology in strengthening aquatic industries.

The afternoon sessions continued with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗣. 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀, Resource Person for Youth Entrepreneurship in AANR, through his 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥. The session emphasized the importance of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset in transforming AANR-related ideas into meaningful and sustainable opportunities.

The day concluded with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗖. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗼, mentor for Leadership and Governance, through their 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

The second day of the mentorship session featured distinguished mentors and resource persons who shared their expertise, experiences, and knowledge to strengthen the participants’ understanding of sustainability, innovation, and emerging developments within the AANR sector.

The morning sessions featured 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗚. 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗼𝘀, mentor for Environmental and Natural Resources, who delivered lectures on 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. The discussions highlighted the importance of sustainable resource management, environmental awareness, and adaptive strategies in addressing current and future environmental challenges.

The afternoon session continued with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗜𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗖. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗼, mentor for Agricultural Engineering, through his 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴. The session provided participants with insights into the role of engineering principles, innovation, and technology in improving agricultural systems and supporting sustainable agricultural development.

[𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒] DOST-PCAARRD Youth Science in the Regions (Mindanao) advances Week 1 (Day 2) through Community of Elders (COELs) lecture and mentoring session.

The 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼) continued its 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 through the 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗖𝗢𝗘𝗟𝘀) 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 on 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, at the 𝗖𝗔𝗘𝗰 𝗘𝗕𝗣 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹, providing student participants with valuable opportunities to learn from experts and gain deeper insights into science, research, agriculture, and youth development.

The lecture session brought together distinguished mentors and resource persons who shared their expertise, experiences, and perspectives to guide the participants as they explore different fields within the 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥) 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 and prepare for future pathways in science, technology, and innovation.

The morning session featured 𝗗𝗿. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗮 𝗚. 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗴, mentor for 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, who delivered a research lecture highlighting the importance of research, data, and socio-economic perspectives in understanding communities and addressing development challenges.

The session was followed by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗖. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗼, mentor for 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, who shared her expertise on agricultural science, crop development, and the role of research and innovation in strengthening sustainable agricultural practices.

The afternoon session continued with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗦. 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮, mentor for 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸, who provided students with insights on livestock science, management practices, and the significance of sustainable approaches in advancing the agricultural sector.

The day concluded with 𝗠𝗿. 𝗚𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗣. 𝗟𝗼𝘇𝗮𝗻𝗼, 𝗥𝗚𝗖, 𝗥𝗣𝗠, Resource Person for 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, through his session on Introduction to 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. The discussion emphasized the importance of self-awareness, resilience, and holistic development in supporting young individuals as they pursue their academic and professional aspirations.

The 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 - 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 (𝗨𝗦𝗲𝗣 𝗖𝗔𝗘𝗰) through the 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗼-𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗖) 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼, officially launched the 𝘿𝙊𝙎𝙏-𝙋𝘾𝘼𝘼𝙍𝙍𝘿 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 (𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤) through its Opening Ceremony held on 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗨𝗦𝗲𝗣 𝗢𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀.

The event was graced by the University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., who delivered an inspiring message highlighting the vital role of young aspiring scientists in advancing sustainable development across Mindanao. The participants were also warmly welcomed by CAEc Associate Dean Dr. Ivee V. Fuerzas, who delivered the opening remarks.

This ceremony marked the beginning of Week 1 of the program, welcoming twenty (20) senior high school students from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Caraga Region Campus, Northern Mindanao Campus, and SOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus. These students are embarking on a meaningful journey
to explore science, technology, research, and innovation within the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector.

The activity brought together the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 (𝗖𝗔𝗘𝗰), 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗖 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗔𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘂𝗺 (𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗖), highlighting a shared commitment to nurturing young minds and strengthening youth participation in science, technology, and innovation.

In his message, the University President emphasized that the nation’s future scientists, researchers, innovators, engineers, economists, environmental stewards, and agricultural leaders were among the students present in the program. He encouraged the participants to maximize this opportunity by learning from mentors, engaging with communities, asking meaningful questions, challenging existing ideas, and developing solutions that may contribute to future discoveries and innovations.

He further emphasized that the 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 represents more than an academic activity— it is an investment in empowering the next generation through meaningful exposure to research, innovation, and real-world applications of science and technology. Through this initiative, students are encouraged to cultivate curiosity, strengthen their passion for learning, and recognize their potential role in advancing sustainable development and community transformation.

The opening ceremony successfully laid the foundation for upcoming program activities, including mentoring sessions, research and development immersion, and collaborative learning experiences designed to provide students with deeper insights into STEM pathways and opportunities in the AANR sector.

The program is spearheaded by Atty. Karlo Martin C. Caramugan, EnP, together with the dedicated project team composed of Rizamae S. P***n (Project Staff), Clea Joyce B. Binang (Project Technical Aide VI), and Dave S. Roblis (Project Technical Aide V), whose commitment continues to make this initiative possible.

This initiative aims to strengthen the participation and perspectives of senior high school students across Mindanao. By fostering a deep interest in science and technology, the program encourages groundbreaking innovation in the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector. Through immersive, hands-on learning experiences, it seeks to inspire the next generation to step up as future Science and Technology (S&T) leaders.

Implemented by the University of Southeastern Philippines College of Applied Economics (USeP CAEc) through the Socio-Economic Research and Data Analytics Center (SERDAC) in Mindanao, this program bridges the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. It equips young Mindanaon researchers with essential data analytics skills, introduces them to evidence-based socio economic research, and empowers them to create data-driven solutions for the region's agricultural and environmental challenges. Together, we are nurturing young minds to cultivate a sustainable tomorrow.
