๐จ SAFETY STARTS WITH AWARENESS AND PREPAREDNESS.
The University of Mindanao reminds everyone to stay informed and prepared in the event of an active threat or violent intruder on campus.
Remember the basic response: RUN. HIDE. FIGHT โ as a last resort.
๐ RUN when a safe escape route is available.
๐ HIDE and secure your location when evacuation is not possible.
๐ก๏ธ FIGHT only as a last resort when escape is impossible and danger is immediate.
In an emergency, remain calm, follow the instructions of authorities and campus personnel, and provide responders only the essential information they need.
๐ Save these emergency numbers:
UM Security and Safety Office: 0949-645-0213 | Local 181
Davao City Emergency Hotline: 082-911
Please take time to read and familiarize yourself with the Active Threat Response Guide below. Knowing what to do before an emergency happens can save lives.
Stay alert. Stay prepared. Look out for one another.

๐ข V โ Vacate Immediately
If a safe escape route is available, leave immediately. Do not stop for belongings and keep your hands visible.
๐ O โ Obstacles & Out of Sight
If escape is not possible, seek effective cover and stay out of sight.
๐ด I โ Isolate & Inform
Lock and barricade your location, silence your phone, and contact emergency responders when it is safe to do so.
๐ก D โ Defend as a Last Resort
If directly confronted and there is no other option, act decisively to protect yourself and others.
Preparedness is not about creating fearโit is about building awareness, confidence, and the ability to respond appropriately during an emergency.
Know the steps. Stay alert. Protect yourself and others.

UM SHINES AT THE DAVAO TAXATION QUIZBEE 2026
Six students from the University of Mindanao Main Campus put their taxation knowledge and teamwork to the test as they represented UM in the Davao Taxation Quizbee 2026, held on August 18, 2026, at AVR 4, UM Matina Campus. Organized in partnership with Byway - Build Your Way Academy, Tax Help in the Philippines, Davao Tax Squad Corp., and University of Mindanao, the event brought together participants for a full day of learning, competition, and practical engagement in Philippine taxation.
UM fielded two teams composed of six participants who took on the challenge with confidence, preparation, and determination.
The highlight of the competition came when UM Team 2 secured the FIRST RUNNER-UP position, earning recognition for their strong performance and demonstrating their ability to apply their taxation knowledge under competitive conditions. Their achievement reflects the studentsโ commitment to continuous learning and their willingness to step beyond the classroom and test their competencies in a professional learning environment. Our participants were accompanied by their coaches: Mr. Mark Glenn Parpan and Ms. Agena Marie San Pablo.

Congratulations to our six participants for representing the University of Mindanao with pride and excellence!
Your achievement shows that learning taxation goes beyond mastering rules and provisions. It is also about developing the confidence to analyze, apply, and make sound decisions when it matters.
The University of Mindanao continues to support opportunities that allow students to connect academic learning with professional practice and industry engagement.
Congratulations, UM Tax Quizbee Team! We are proud of you!
