𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄. 🇵🇭 🗣️

A Problem Worth Listening To: PAX SILICA ✊🏻

What is Pax Silica? Pax is the Latin word for "peace," while Silica refers to silicon — a key material used in semiconductors, computer chips, and Artificial Intelligence (Al). The initiative aims to strengthen Al and semiconductor supply chains through partnerships with resource — rich countries,
including the Philippines.

While it is presented as an opportunity for investment, job creation, and technological advancement, it has also raised concerns about it's potential impact on our natural resources, agricultural lands, local communities, and national sovereignty. Public discussions have also highlighted a proposed 1,619 hectare site for an Al hub — a vast area that, for many, represents far more than land. It is farmland, biodiversity, livelihoods, and the future of countless Filipino communities.

As part of the 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧
𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐘𝐄𝐒-𝐎), as Filipinos, and as Camayans, we refuse to remain silent. Our natural resources are among our nation's greatest treasures. We call on those entrusted with public leadership to uphold their responsibility to protect them with transparency, accountability, and the public interest at heart.

Nature has no voice — but we do. We stand for every forest, every river, every farmer, and every community whose future depends on a healthy environment. Real progress is measured not only by what we build, but by what we choose to protect.

Join our Lakad Linis—where we take care of our environment step by step, slowly but surely. Together, we'll pick up trash, sweep, cut grass, and help make our school and community cleaner.

This is something I will never understand in this country because I am confident we can do better.

You buy your cup of coffee, drink it outside, and EVEN IF the trash can is just 3 steps away from you (look closer in the pic, check left side), you don't apply the MALASAKIT we all brag about, and leave your trash instead.

Is it laziness? Self-centeredness? Lack of civic sense?

At this rate that Vietnam has already surpassed our GDP and GDP per capita rate, I am painfully hopeless.
