Crossing Times and Sangandaan (CT&S) of Crossing Bayabas National High School (CBNHS) dominated the 2026 Davao City Schools Press Conference (DSPC), securing multiple championships and runner up finishes, top school distinctions, and 20 berths to the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) on September 19 at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School.
CBNHS was named Top Performing Secondary School and Overall Top Performing Public Secondary School during the awarding ceremony, while its cluster placed second among the Top Performing Clusters in the citywide competition.
The English and Filipino campus publications posted championship and runner up finishes across various individual and group journalism events, giving CBNHS one of its strongest showings in the city level competition.
Among the student journalists who advanced to the regional level were qualifiers from different journalism disciplines, bringing the school's total RSPC delegation to 20.
The results stemmed from months of preparation through regular writing sessions, skills training, simulations, critiques, and coaching.
The training focused on strengthening their writing, editing, visual storytelling, and other journalism competencies required in the competition.
School Paper Adviser/Coach Rogelio R. Ornido Jr., attributed the results to the collective effort of the student journalists, co-advisers, associates, parents, and school administrators who remained involved throughout the preparation.
โThis victory is not just about the awards. It is about the students who continued to show up, accept corrections, improve their craft, and fight until the end. Kadaogan sa usa, kadaogan sa tanan,โ Ornido said.
The city level competition brought together student journalists from public and private schools across Davao City who competed in various campus journalism events.
For CT&S, the DSPC results marked another chapter in its continuing participation in city and regional press conferences, with the 20 qualifiers now preparing to represent CBNHS at the RSPC.
The publications will carry their city level recognition into the regional competition as the student journalists begin another round of training and preparation for the next stage of campus journalism.
